FEBRUARY 2018
TIME TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE TOOLS YOU NEED FOR A SUCCESSFUL 2018

Happy Valentine's Day!

Re-charging your batteries, fixing equipment, planning for the season, brushing up with training....it must be February. Before you know it, spring will be here.

February is a great time to make sure your staff has the tools they need:
  • An updated job description so they know exactly what is expected of them in 2018
  • A personal improvement plan so they can progress (See Personnel article below)
  • The right tools to accomplish the job (See our tool sale below)
Want to get excited about the upcoming season? Listen to what Matt Rodgers and Jason Samenow report: "The federal government's U.S. drought monitor now places most of the greater Washington and Baltimore region in at least moderate drought, with a severe drought lining I-95." Did someone say irrigation?!

Enjoy the Olympics,

DRIP IRRIGATION SAVES WATER

In the face of drought conditions, watering restrictions, and renewed calls for more intelligent watering practices, homeowners are recognizing that the lawn sprinkler is the primary culprit behind the majority of water waste in today's landscapes. Netafim™ has created two videos showing how you can significantly reduce outdoor water use without the need for a radical landscape transformation simply by converting areas that are watered by sprinklers into more efficient drip irrigation zones. Read more here.

IT'S A GREAT TIME TO DEVELOP YOUR PERSONNEL

Do you conduct annual reviews with each of your employees? It's a great time to have a meaningful discussion about how they can help the company succeed and how you can help them grow and prosper. Their feedback may even give you constructive comments to make you a better manager, the company more efficient, or the bottom line more profitable. What's not to like?

The number one reason people leave companies is management, not money! Reviews are a great tool to keep good employees and motivate them into high performing team members.

A good review consists of the following sections:
  • Objective - Do they come to work on time, wear their uniforms, have a positive attitude, etc?
  • Job Responsibilities - Job description
  • Subjective - Open-ended questions about retention, motivation, etc.
  • Manager Review - How can I better support you? Where have I let you down?
  • Improvement Plan - Developed and agreed upon by both parties.
Please feel free to give me a call if I can assist you.
