Making a Difference

Dear Friends,

As we continue to face the current epidemic together, we wish for the health and safety of all our Scouting families at this time, and our thoughts are with all those affected.

We are truly grateful to all our essential workers - teachers, medical workers, and first responders - who are on the front lines every day. Scouts, volunteers, and employees assisting our communities with courage in times of need is foundational to who we are. Until traditional Scouting resumes, we have been sharing online resources to help our Scouting families and friends safely continue their adventures by Scouting at Home.

We're proud to showcase some of our truly inspirational Scouting heroes! You can also share your Scouting at Home stories with us on social media using #TRCScoutingAtHome and #TRCScoutingFamily.

As we face these uncertain times, know that Scouting helps us be prepared for life's challenges while pledging to help other people at all times.  Each day, find ways to do your part - whether it is helping a neighbor in need or showing gratitude for our essential workers . These small acts, when combined together, make a true and honest difference.

Thank you for continuing the strong tradition of service to Nassau County.

Yours in Scouting,

Christopher M. Coscia

Franklin Square Scouts Step Up for Veterans

It started with a group text message last week, when Nicholas Talamo, president of Franklin Square-based Venturing Crew 2718, asked his fellow troop members if they would like to raise money to buy food for disabled veterans who are stuck at home...

Feeding our Essential Workers

Pack 202 ordered $300 of catered food and had it delivered to North Shore University Hospital on April 6th. The hospital was very appreciative and the amount of food is expected to feed 50 plus people.

Bully to all the scouts and volunteers in Pack 202! They're now working on sending positive messages to essential workers. Great job everyone!

Doing their Good Turn Daily

Scouts Dylan and Brad Loveland of Troop 96 have taken on the helpful task of making face masks for local health care workers and local hospitals! They plan on making one big trip to a hospital soon.

Bully for doing your good turn!
Shielding our Health Care Workers

Tobin of Troop 7 has been making face shields for hospitals and emergency workers using his 3D printer.

Seeing a great need for these across the medical community, he wanted to see if others with 3D printers would be interested in either coordinating more deliveries with Troop 7, or making face shields and finding their own method of distribution.

If any units, scouts, and/ or leaders are interested in learning more or need help, please contact andy@teamjohns.com

Thank you Tobin and Troop 7 for making a difference!!!

Social Distanced Celebration

On March 24th, Valley Stream Boys Scout Troop 109 gave a hero salute to World War Two Veteran Julian Binetti on his 100th birthday by holding an Honor Parade. Scouts and families made signs, decorated cars and played The National Anthem from car speakers in tribute to Mr. Binetti.

Mr. Binetti's daughter Carol is a family friend of families in Troop 109 and when they heard that previously birthday celebrations were canceled to the corona virus, the Troop quickly planned this special surprise the night before at their first Virtual Troop meeting while discussing a Scout's Good Turn Daily.

While maintaining social distancing a parade of 20 vehicles honked horns, clapped and cheered that drew out neighbors that continued the well wishes in this celebration to honor Mr. Binetti's service to Country and milestone birthday.

God Bless Mr. Binetti and BULLY to
all Scouts, leaders and families of Troop 109, Valley Stream.
