It's that time of year!
To help with your leaf cleanup, the Township will have a leaf drop-off site at the DPW building, 16747 150th Ave (south of M104, across from Lakeside Auto). The site will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from October 23 to December 4, except for Saturday, November 30.
Only leaves will be accepted, and they must be in biodegradable paper bags. The site will be staffed, and ID will be checked.
Hours of operation: Wednesdays - 2pm to 5pm
Saturdays - 10am to 4pm
The final Burn Day of 2019 is Saturday, November 16. Remember, leaves may not be burned in the Township - only brush may be burned. No burning is allowed within 1400 feet of Ferrysburg or the Village of Spring Lake. A permit is required, but you no longer have to call the Fire Department in the morning before burning.
Join the merchants in Downtown Spring Lake for Spook-a-Palooza on Thursday, October 31 from 4pm to 6pm. Look for the Spook-a-Palooza signs in the windows of participating merchants. Residential trick or treating in both the Village and the Township will follow, from 6pm to 8pm.
Township parks change to their winter hours on November 1. Parks will be open 8am to 7:30pm from November 1 to March 31.
Summer flowers in the Cemetery are being picked up before the leaves fall. Winter wreaths may be placed on graves beginning November 1. No grave blankets are allowed.
- Recreational Vehicle Storage
Rules for outdoor storage of recreational vehicles change November 1. Summer-use vehicles such as boats and personal watercraft should be moved behind the house or to storage. Winter-use recreational vehicles such as snowmobiles may be parked in front of the house beginning December 1. Remember, all recreational vehicles must be parked at least 35 feet from the edge of the road.
