May 17, 2019
Dear Parents,

Happy Friday!  Can you believe that we only have 9 wake ups until we conclude this school year?  We have many events coming up over the next two weeks, and I look forward to seeing you at all of them.  If you are planning to attend these events, please pre-register with our Fast Pass. This will help us check in our visitors quickly and efficiently.  We are still looking for volunteers for our Super Skills Day (field day) next Friday from 12:30 - 2:30. If you could volunteer, I know that our students and Coaches would be very appreciative of your time and that you would have some fun also!
As you are by now well aware, Lovejoy ISD is facing a potential funding shortfall of ~3 million dollars pending the outcome of HB3 later this month. The direct impact at Lovejoy Elementary is the elimination of the K-2 GT pull-out program. Instead, K-2 students who qualify for GT services, will continue to be served within the general education classroom.

I hope that you and your families have a restful weekend.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
All My Best,
Wendy Craft

The primary students (K-2nd) participate from 9:30-11:30am  and the intermediate (3rd and 4th) from 12:30-2:30pm. The students will be preparing for Super Skills Day in a few weeks. Coach Nicholson and Coach Moseley asks that students come properly attired in shorts or sweatpants with running shoes, not spiked track style. Please be sure your child brings a water bottle that can be refilled several times, and labeled with his/her name. Parents are invited to join in the activities as enthusiastic spectators or volunteer to help during the afternoon session. If you would like to volunteer to help, please go to this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4bacac28a0fe3-super and sign up. (Make sure you complete the online background check!) Events will take place on the playground and indoors.  Your support is greatly appreciated!!!

Notes from the Nurse Nash - Medication Pick Up
If your child has medicine at school, please make sure your child has exactly enough medicine to finish the school year. You are responsible for picking up any extra medicine as the school district has a policy against sending medicines home with students. At the end of this school year, any remaining medicines, including inhalers, will be thrown out. The school cannot store these for you during the summer. If you have questions, please contact me at 469.742.8132
or email at [email protected].

Important News from Student Nutrition Regarding Student Meal Accounts
This is a courtesy message from Lovejoy Student Nutrition Services to inform households of an upcoming change in student meal accounts. In an effort to minimize negative balances at the end of the school year, beginning Wednesday, May 8 and for the remainder of the school year, students will no longer be able to charge meals which will result in the student incurring a negative balance to their meal account. Students may continue to use their lunch accounts as long as they have money in the account. Households with students who currently have negative balances will receive reminder emails and phone calls. Federal regulations prohibit us from rolling over negative balances to the next school year. Please make arrangements to remit payment for any negative lunch accounts your child may have incurred.
All positive balances will be rolled over to next school year. If you have a graduating senior, funds may be transferred to any sibling in the school district. To request a meal account refund, please complete a  refund request form located on the Student Nutrition website. For assistance, please contact Student Nutrition at 469.742.8041.
