FROM THE CEO
PCBC is Right Around the Corner
Michael Strech, President and CEO
In two weeks building professionals from all over the country will meet in San Francisco for one of the most influential events for home building on the west coast. The Pacific Coast Builder's Conference (PCBC) in San Francisco brings the latest in art, science and the business of building homes.  The conference takes place May 30 th and 31 stat the Moscone Center.

This year's lineup of speakers includes business forerunners and trend spotters across varying business enterprises, including leading brands like NASA, Fannie Mae, VOX Media, JMP Securities and Zappos. Among these are the key note speakers, Sekou Andrews, has worked with some of the most influential brands in the world by using poetry and the arts to find a company's voice and ultimately their brand and, Alison Levine, who captained the first ever American Women's Everest Expedition and believes in leading using the same principles that helped her complete that mission.

In 2019, PCBC will focus on emerging trends in an all-new Technology & Energy Forum. The conference offering includes tech panels on topics like connection and 5G, augmented reality and visualization, cloud-based mobility, robotics, AI and the smart home. The forum also includes a Technology Trend Report that will showcase five macro trends on display at PCBC, and a self-guided technology product tour that will highlight smart home exhibitors on the exhibits floor in coordination with the Technology Trend Report. This content is specifically designed to allow attendees to step inside the future of home technology trends and to help the industry stay in front of the trends and technology coming to market.

In addition to the outstanding education and informative exhibition floor, PCBC is a great opportunity to network and build relationships with industry centric professionals both near and far.  There is no other event like this in our industry.

We'll see you in San Francisco!

HOMEAID SACRAMENTO
A Huge Success!
Big Day of Giving was a great success for HomeAid and that would not have been possible without our generous donations from BIA members, the public and BlackPine Communities giving spirit.

BlackPine Communities held a fun event at their Farmhouse at Willow Creek development on May 2nd. High Hand Nursery offered samples of wildflower honey and unique flavors of olive oil and balsamic vinegars. Their display of flowers and plants was beautiful and attendees were able to build their own bouquets. As a result of the evening, BlackPine Communities made a generous donation to HomeAid Sacramento for Big Day of Giving.

THE FOUNDATION
Introducing: Project My Own Bed
The Out of School Youth (OSY) Program has a new community service project and we're excited to share it with you - Project My Own Bed. The project's goal is to provide beds to 20 families in the Sacramento region.

Nineteen percent of Sacramento's population lives below the poverty line and for children who fall into this category, their reality often includes sleeping without a bed. They sleep on couches and even floors and this can affect their health and happiness.

On Friday, May 3rd, we ran out pilot of this project.  The OSY transported, delivered and assembled nine beds in one home.  These beds went to two moms and children ranging from 3 to 14, two of whom had never slept in a bed.  The apartment was without any furniture in the bedrooms.  This project allowes the OSY young adults to develop their construction motor skills and customer service skills while serving the community to meet the needs of local children.

The wonderful smiles on the faces of the children and their mothers, once the bunk beds were assembled, the mattresses in place, and the colorful bedding with new pillows fitted to the beds, were priceless!  We delivered HOPE to these families which far exceeded their wildest expectations!

This practice run was financed in part by SRBX, who awarded us the Construction in the Community Grant at its annual Industry Lunch. Thank you, SRBX!
