During his visit to Syracuse this week,  Governor Cuomo  stated that companies across New York state will need to design plans to maintain social distancing in the workplace, and prepare policies for ensuring worker and customer safety.

While we await further guidance on the state's reopening requirements and timelines (the current "New York on Pause" guidelines  extend at least until May 15), several  industry groups have released guidance  to assist businesses with  preparing reopening plans  in the interim:

  • This week, the U.S. Small Business Administration's Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) resumed accepting applications through commercial lenders. Businesses who take out PPP loans will have two years to repay loans at 1% interest, or loans may be completely forgiven if all employees are kept on the payroll for eight weeks and the money is used for payroll, rent, mortgage interest, or utilities.   • The Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and Loan Advance is not accepting new applications at this time.
