Trade Fair Showcases Junior Achievement
High School Student Companies at Memorial City Mall
HCC is particularly proud of the two high school teams from the Alief Early College High School (AECHS) who are involved in Junior Achievement's city-wide year long program. Twenty-seven high schools are participating from September 2019 through May 2020. The Center for Entrepreneurship - West Houston provided training and mentors to assist the students and teams as they planned their companies last Fall. Instructor, Brian Stephenson from the AECHS has also been providing invaluable guidance to our two high school teams. They began selling in February and all of the participating high schools were show-cased at the Trade Fair in Memorial City Mall on February 8.
AECHS team P.A.C. (Protection and Customization) designs cell phone case covers and produces them at the Maker Space IDEAS Studio at HCC Alief Hayes.
HCC entrepreneurs intersected, when it just so happened that a past HCC Business Plan Competition winner, Raya Guruswamy, EnergyFundz, came by shopping with his children and stopped at our booth!
Team PAC landed pre-orders throughout the fair.
Next came Team 3D Wonders.
They designed and produced wooden key rings strategically positioned to be affordable Valentines gifts. 3D Wonders also designed and produced their products in HCC's maker space on the HCC Alief Hayes campus in our West Houston Institute, in cooperation with IDEAS Studio Director, Jordan Carswell. 3D Wonders sold out! They attribute their success that day to their Valentines Day product positioning and to their inexpensive price point! Congratulations to our Alief Early College High School and to all the JA high schools for a great day!
