Age Strong and Accessible Debuts in Jamaica Plain
Announced at JPCSMS Annual Meeting 2020
Our Annual Meeting on February 26 announced our Age Strong and Accessible initiative to encourage businesses to get certified by the City of Boston as Age-Friendly and Dementia-Friendly AND get additional recognition from JP Centre/South Main Streets for being Accessible for People with Disabilities. We are rolling the program out to businesses in March. The primary goal of our program is to share information and education that will enable businesses to provide great customer service to ALL customers.

In addition, we unveiled the plans for our Green Street Parklet, coming in April 2020! We are planning programming for both the debut and regular programming in the parklet. We welcome community involvement and hope to see you there. Contact us if you want to plan something for the parklet!

Small Works 2020 show and sale, "ART ON TAP" will be Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Sam Adams Brewery from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.

Small Works is a fundraiser to support the annual Jamaica Plain Open Studios, a project of the Jamaica Plain Arts Council.

Admission $5 at the door. 
Free food/cash bar.

The Footlight Club is looking for volunteers next week to help transform the Club in preparation for The Footlight Fête! We'll be moving furniture, setting up the auditorium, setting up lights, tables, and making things look amazing!  

Volunteers who help with setting up for the Fete will be offered a special discounted ticket price of $25!

The Jamaica Plain Branch Library is proud to announce a new exhibition, supported by The Friends of the Jamaica Plain Branch of the Boston Public Library in partnership with Uforge, a solo exhibition of Jamaica Plain-based collage artist Marnie Jain.

Jain is known for her delightful collage compositions featuring all manner of flora and fauna, with rabbits, frogs, birds, and snakes hidden among flowers and forest greenery. Using bright colors and a range of found imagery, her constructions are playful, textured, and often enlightening. Boasting a selection of primarily new works, In Close Proximity highlights insects, reptiles, and animals that inhabit Jamaica Plain, along with some imaginary creatures.

Marnie Jain: In Close Proximity is on view from March 6 through April 30, 2020, with a public reception to be held on Thursday, March 12, 5:30 - 7:30 PM. The library is open Monday-Wednesday 10-6, Thursday 12-8, and Friday-Saturday 9-5 (closed Sundays). The exhibition space is located on the lower level.
