Early Childhood Measures Exchange now available
The Exchange is designed to help researchers find, explore and access early childhood assessments available from other NAECR researchers.
Since a key component of successful, impactful research is strong measurement, the online tool is designed to increase access to early childhood assessments and support collaboration around measurement.
The Exchange provides a library of early childhood assessment tools targeting child progress and development. It includes early childhood researchers from across the University of Nebraska system who have expertise in child skill assessments, and indicates whether the tool is available for review or use by colleagues.
Users can sort by domain/construct, measure name, measure availability, researcher name and campus. The Exchange also includes links to other resources, such as reference libraries and testing toolkits.
The first phase of the Exchange is focused on assessments of child progress and development. Future phases will incorporate other domains including parent and professional reports.

2020-21 First Year Research Experience Program Seeking Faculty Mentors
The Office of Undergraduate Research is seeking faculty mentors for the 2020-21 First Year Research Experience cohort. The program matches first-year students with faculty mentors to learn about research and creative activity in the mentor’s field by spending five hours a week on a project over the course of the year.
There is no financial commitment required from the faculty mentor.

Department of Education Interdisciplinary Preparation in Special Education Early Intervention and Related Services for Personnel Serving Children with Disabilities who have High-Intensity Needs
The purposes of this program are to help address state-identified needs for personnel preparation in special education, early intervention, related services and regular education to work with children — including infants, toddlers and youth — with disabilities; and ensure those personnel have the necessary skills and knowledge, derived from practices that have been determined through scientifically based research, to be successful in serving those children.
Estimated average award size is $225,000.

National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities Addressing Racial Disparities in Maternal Mortality and Morbidity
The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities is supporting a funding opportunity to advance the understanding, prevention and reduction of maternal mortality and morbidity among racial and ethnic minority women and socioeconomically disadvantaged women. Projects that encompass multiple domains (e.g., biological, behavioral, sociocultural) and multiple levels (e.g., individual, interpersonal, community, societal) to understand racial and ethnic disparities in maternal morbidity and mortality are encouraged.

Department of Education — Education Innovation and Research Program Mid-Phase Grants
The Education Innovation and Research program provides funding to create, develop, implement, replicate or take to scale entrepreneurial, evidence-based, field-initiated innovations to improve student achievement and attainment for high-need students; and rigorously evaluate such innovations.
Mid-phase awards will fund implementation and a rigorous evaluation of a program that has been successfully implemented under an early-phase grant or other effort meeting similar criteria, for the purpose of measuring the program’s impact and cost-effectiveness.
Estimated average award size is up to $8,000,000.

Foundation for Child Development 2021 Young Scholars Program
The Foundation for Child Development is currently accepting proposals for its 2021 Young Scholars Program, which supports scholarship for early career researchers. The program funds implementation research that is policy- and practice-relevant, and that examines the preparation, competency, compensation, well-being and ongoing professional learning of the early care and education workforce.
Award amounts are up to $225,000 for primary research and up to $180,000 for secondary data analysis.

Department of Education Technical Assistance and Dissemination to Improve Services and Results for Children with Disabilities: Model Demonstration Projects to Develop Coaching Systems
This program is designed to promote academic achievement and to improve results for children with disabilities by providing technical assistance, supporting model demonstration projects, disseminating useful information and implementing activities that are supported by scientifically based research.
These projects will provide support to professionals to collaborate with early learning and early intervention programs, schools, districts and state agencies to establish the infrastructure, personnel skills and processes necessary for an effective and sustainable coaching system.

National Institutes of Health Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Institutional Research Training Grant
NIH is accepting applications for the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (T32) to enhance predoctoral and postdoctoral research training — including short-term research training — and to help ensure a diverse, highly trained workforce is available to meet the needs of the nation’s biomedical, behavioral and clinical research agenda.
Research training programs are expected to incorporate didactic, research and career development elements to prepare trainees for careers that will have a significant impact on the health-related research needs of the nation.

Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation Tribal Research Center on Early Childhood Development and Systems
OPRE is accepting applications for a tribal research center on early childhood development and systems. The center will provide leadership and collaboration to promote excellence in community-based participatory research and evaluation of ACF early childhood initiatives that serve tribal communities. Settings to be considered include home visiting programs, early care and education center-based programs; home-based and family childcare providers; and Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

Department of Health & Human Services Reducing Health Disparities Among Minority and Underserved Children
This initiative encourages research that targets the reduction of health disparities among children. Specific targeted areas of research include bio-behavioral studies that incorporate multiple factors that influence child health disparities such as biological, lifestyle factors, environmental, social, economic, institutional, and cultural and family influences; studies that target the specific health promotion needs of children with a known health condition and/or disability; and studies that test, evaluate, translate and disseminate health promotion prevention and interventions conducted in traditional and non-traditional settings.

The William T. Grant Scholars Program supports career development for promising early career researchers. The program funds five-year research and mentoring plans that significantly expand researchers' expertise in new disciplines, methods and content areas.
