Summertime and the livin' is...
...not quite as busy. Please note the following changes:
  • The adult ed series on the book of Acts concludes May 22. That's the last Wednesday class, morning or evening, until fall.
  • The final God-on-Tap until fall is Thurs., May 30, 6-8 PM at Common Ground on Bay St. (Note change of location.)
  • The "Wandering Rector" will soon wander to a cafe near you for coffee and conversation. Stay tuned for more details about this laid-back gathering.
  • Sunday services will continue as usual at 9 AM and 11 AM. A nursery for babies and small children will be available at both services, but no Sunday School during the summer.
Marked as Christ's own forever
This Sunday at 11 we'll welcome Annabelle Blue Burgin into the congregation of Christ's flock through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Annabelle Blue is the daughter of Robert and Mandy Burgin and the sister of Topper. In addition, the 9 AM service will include a renewal of baptismal vows, traditional during the 50-day season of Easter.
Picnic needs volunteers
Pentecost Sunday, the "birthday of the Church," is June 9. We celebrate with a covered-dish picnic on the lawn after the 11 AM service. Celeste Nalwasky has agreed to coordinate it, but she needs a group to set up tables and another group to clean up. Contact Celeste to offer your help--843-838-4569 or celestenalwasky@aol.com.
Don't take the bait
Phishing:   the fraudulent attempt to obtain money or sensitive information by people who disguise themselves as trustworthy persons or organizations. Some St. Mark's members received a phishing email last week from someone purporting to be Rev. Roy. Look carefully at the sender's address before opening email, and above all, don't send money! Please notify the office immediately if you receive any more of these fake emails.
Win friends, influence people
Can you hand out a piece of paper and smile at the same time? Then you are qualified to be an usher at St. Mark's. We especially need fill-ins during July and August. If you want to help your church while meeting lots of friendly new folks, this is the job for you! No need for high heels or coat and tie. Email Julie at stmarksc@gmail.com . And by the way, say "thank you" to the dedicated group who serve Sunday after Sunday.
