COH Mass Reopening Message

A Video Message From Deacon Dennis
Dear Friends at Christ Our Hope,

Here at Christ Our Hope we have been focused on how we can safely welcome everyone back to public Masses this weekend. Please take a moment to watch a video about our reopening here.

It is important for us to make sure that our community is safe, especially our parishioners and Josephinum residents who are most vulnerable from a health perspective. We are eager to welcome our community back to Masses at 8:30 AM, 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM starting this Sunday, July 5th. All attendees must register for Mass on our website here Mondays starting at 9:00 AM until Thursdays at Midnight. This week our registration will be left open until Saturday.

This past Sunday we welcomed our in-Mass liturgical ministers for a private Mass and training on how we will keep our community safe during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are some our safety precautions:
  • All attendees for our Sunday Masses must register on our website here or call the parish office
    • There will be a check-in process for each attendee as you enter the Church
  • If you are sick or feel you are getting sick, please stay at home and do not attend Mass
    • Missing Mass due to illness is not sinful; it is prudent and shows care for your sisters and brothers
  • People over the age of 60 (healthy or unhealthy), those with underlying health conditions or compromised immune systems and pregnant women should avoid large gatherings
  • There will be no handshaking including during the Sign of Peace
  • During Communion, the Eucharist will be received only in your hand, not on your tongue
  • No Precious Blood is offered from the chalice to the community at this time
  • The holy water font has been drained
  • Masks are required to attend Mass
  • There will be no hospitality or other gatherings offered in person before or after Mass
We will continue to offer viewing our Masses online on Facebook Live and our Youtube channel as we know many of you will choose to not attend public Mass until a vaccine is developed. We are encouraging parishioners who have underlying health issues, have a suppressed immune system or who are pregnant to avoid public gatherings such as Mass for now. Each person who attends public Mass does so at his or her own risk. There is special dispensation granted by our Bishops to those unable to attend Mass and receive communion for such reasons.

Further communication on reopening will be sent via these parish emails, posted on our website and on our social media channels. We ask that you share this message with other members of our community who may not have received this communication.

Please continue to pray for our beautiful community. We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Peace,

Deacon Dennis Kelly
Pastoral Coordinator

Blessing of Facemasks: Prayer by Rita Ferrone

Father of Mercy,
You willed that all people should have life and have it abundantly.
You call us to care for one another, putting the needs of our neighbor on a par with our own.
Bless these face masks + which we wear during this time of pandemic.
May they protect us, and all those we encounter, from the threat of Covid-19.
May those who wear them never bring harm upon anyone, knowingly or unknowingly, by spreading this terrible disease.
Holy Spirit, grant us a peaceful heart.
Teach us patience.
Help us turn to you in prayer when we are irritable or afraid,
or when the journey seems too long for us.
May all our efforts to guard and protect one another in charity
become a shining witness to the love of Jesus Christ,
for he is Lord forever and ever. Amen.

Our Parish Office and Church Hours

As our parish reopens, our office remains closed to the public. However, our staff will be available via phone and email. If you need to meet with us in person, staff will be available for limited pre-arranged appointments.

Our Church remains closed and will only be opened during the Masses on Sunday for those who have registered for Masses.
