COVID 19 FAQs 4/17/20
School closure updates: Next steps and works in progress
Wellness supports:
Dramatic shifts in our school, work and homelife have had a significant impact on many, including our most vulnerable students. During this time of physical distancing, we want to reassure the students and families in our District that we care about the mental health and wellbeing of our school community.

We have created a new landing page to provide resources, suggestions on ways to cope, and avenues to seek help.

Please visit: www.fcusd.org/wellness for more information.

Meals for students:
Meals will continue to be distributed to our students ages 2 - 18, Monday - Friday at these seven school sites , from now until May 28. In order to ensure we are meeting the needs of FCUSD students, we require students to be present to receive a meal. If students are not able to be present, a student ID can be shown.

More information can be found at www.fcusd.org/meals

Since the school closures, over 32,481 students have been fed and over 87,482 meals have been distributed. Shout-out to our food service workers for their dedication to our students!

TB clinics and Immunization clinics closed:
Due to the closure of our District office, these clinics are cancelled:
  • TB clinic, Monday April 20
  • Immunization clinic, Thursday, May 14
As we get closer to the 20/21 school year, we will notify you when these clinics have been rescheduled.

Grades:
The District is currently working with our teachers to devise a plan for grading, and information will be forthcoming.

Graduation ceremonies:
Graduation ceremonies are important to students, staff, families and communities.  We are working diligently to establish a safe celebration that complies with the guidance we are being given by CDC and our Governor. Information will be forthcoming.

Distance Learning updates:
Student/teacher interaction and connection is a critical piece to learning. Please encourage your student to engage during the school day with their teacher.

Since we began distance learning, our ETIS team has handed out 5080 Chromebooks to students who needed a device!

Online safety tips:
With the increase in online activity it is important to be aware of potential dangers. Be diligent in monitoring and discussing your child's use of YouTube videos, websites, and other non-curriculum related materials. The FBI recently posted this link with information relevant to an increase in internet usage.
Additional resources:
  • Tips for Monitoring Kids Online found here
  • Internet Safety Guide found here

If there are any online issues or concerns, please reach out immediately to your school's Principal.  We also have an Online Bullying Report located here.  The form immediately notifies all school administrators and the Director of Behavior Intervention & Student Services.
