Joint Information Center
Thursday, July 2
As of 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, Calhoun County has a cumulative total of 489 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported to Calhoun County Public Health Department (CCPHD), with a total of 33 deaths attributed to the virus. This information is updated once daily, Monday through Friday, at  www.calhouncountymi.gov .

Fourth of July Holiday
During this holiday weekend, and any summer celebrations you are planning with others, please continue to take these actions to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your community:

  • Wear a mask in all indoor spaces.
  • Social distance at least six feet with people who don’t live with you.
  • Only gather indoors with 10 or fewer people.
  • Gather outdoors with 100 or fewer people, and maintain social distancing.
  • Meet outside when you can.
  • Do not share food, drinks, or other items. Have everyone bring their own.

We continue to see positive cases of COVID-19 in Calhoun County, across the state, and across the country so, when possible, make lower-risk choices. Working together, we can help prevent the spread of the virus.

Changes to Joint Operations Center
As local government offices reopen to the public on a limited basis, Calhoun County's Joint Operations Center will reduce the number of times it meets. Starting Monday, July 6, the Joint Operations Center no longer will meet for morning briefings. However, the work will continue to respond locally to the pandemic, and the Unified Command Team, which consists of the JOC's leadership, will meet twice weekly to assess COVID-19 community-wide and the challenges we continue to face.

Although the meetings are being suspended at this time, they will be reinstated if Calhoun County sees a resurgence in positive COVID-19 cases. The two data points the Unified Command Team will monitor are case numbers per million, and percent of positive cases from those tested. If there are 30 positive cases per million or the county's percent positive consistently increases over time, the JOC will resume meeting as a larger entity on a weekly basis.

Live Joint Information Center (JIC) briefings via Zoom for local elected officials and media also are suspended, as of next week. An emailed JIC will be sent weekly on Wednesdays, as long as our response continues, to ensure that we share information with the public on a regular basis. The Calhoun County Public Health Department will continue to update daily the COVID-19 numbers on the county's website.

With questions, please contact either of the Public Information Officers listed below.

Calhoun County Buildings Open to Public
Beginning Monday, July 6, the County Building in Marshall and the Toeller Building in Battle Creek will be open to the public. Although most offices remain open on an appointment-only basis in order to limit the number of people in the building at a time, the Treasurer's Office will be open to ensure access prior to foreclosure deadlines.

The Justice Complex will remain locked, except for arrangements made in advance with an office within that building. This matches the courts reopening plan.
