Gary T. Henry Named Dean
We're excited to welcome Gary T. Henry as the new dean of UD’s College of Education and Human Development. A renowned researcher in the field of education, Dr. Henry specializes in education policy, educational evaluation, teacher quality research and quantitative research methods.

New Ph.D. Program
The Ph.D. in Educational Statistics and Research Methods (ESRM) prepares students interested in education data science to develop, critically evaluate, and properly use quantitative and mixed methodologies to solve important problems in education.

Six Faculty Searches Posted
CEHD is searching for several faculty positions this year, including: three tenure/tenure-track positions in education policy, a tenure-track assistant professor position in the social determinants of health, aging and biopsychosocial influences, and faculty positions in mathematics education and literacy.

Social Entrepreneurs in Residence
The Fall 2019 Social Entrepreneurship Series kicks off with Meghan Wallace and Catherine Lindroth, co-founders of Social Contract on November 14th. This seminar series features local social entrepreneurs who are focused on partnering with and advocating for their communities to help students integrate business principles into practical ideas to solve social issues.

CEHD Alumni Awards
During the CEHD Alumni Weekend Reception in June, we presented three awards to noteworthy alumni:

  • Shelby Dorr – Excellence in Education Award
  • Michael Hannon – New Graduate Award
  • Cary Riches – Leadership and Community Service Award

2020 State Teacher of the Year
Three alumni and one graduate student from CEHD were named as finalists for the 2020 State Teacher of the Year Award in Delaware. Selected from among the 9,000 teachers serving in public and charter schools statewide, each candidate was nominated for their ability to inspire students with a love of learning, demonstration of professional traits and devotion to teaching. The 2020 State Teacher of the Year will be announced on October 15.
