Publishing training and jobs
Training                                            May 2019
Hello

Our next free Harper Macleod session for publishers is on Thursday 30 May 2019. It's a truly important one looking at finances and what you have to do, and what you should do, when your business is running low on funds, and there's a risk that you won't be able to pay the bills. As always it starts at 9.30am and there will be refreshments and breakfast pastries on arrival.

There are still places on Writing Digital Content on 5 June and Introduction to Proofreading on 12 June. Some of the PS staff have attended one or both of these courses and we highly recommend them.

We look forward to seeing you at a course or hearing from you with your suggestions or comments for new courses.

Best wishes

Joan

Training and Information Manager,  Publishing Scotland

RESTRUCTURING AND INSOLVENCY - HARPER MACLEOD (CITYPOINT, EDINBURGH)
Thursday 30 May 2019: 9.30am to 11am

Don't be put off by the name of this session! Scott Kerr, Partner, Corporate, will talk about what to do when facing financial issues. This seminar will look at what you have to do, and what you should do, when your business is running low on funds, and there's a risk that you won't be able to pay the bills. It will cover important areas such as the copyright in your works; contracts with distributors, retailers, and such like (and what could happen to those); relationships with funders, shareholders and such like; and directors duties. It will address areas you might want to consider to help fund your business, such as bank loans, additional investment and alternative funding.
It will also consider the risks you might face if your suppliers or customers face financial difficulty and the effect of their administration or insolvency on contracts you might have with them, in particular licences of works both granted by you and in your favour.
Book a place at this session, on the Harper Macleod website.
