COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update
Friday April 17, 2020
Dear Camp Families,

I hope you enjoyed your Passover and that you and those close to you are feeling healthy and well. Before diving into an update regarding Summer 2020, I want to sincerely thank everyone who has reached out to Naomi, Maya, and I to check in on us and how things are going with camp. Nothing feels better than being part of a community that cares for one another. All of us together will get through this time of uncertainty, and we will come out even stronger.

Since we last reached out to you, our team has heard from many community members with questions regarding Summer 2020, and I am pleased to provide some of those answers as well as some updates on where things stand with camp. We continue to be committed to providing you with timely and transparent updates.

Will camp operate for Summer 2020?
We are reviewing every possible scenario to ensure that we can deliver a safe camp experience this summer. We know our campers will need camp more than ever after this long period of physical separation from their friends and routine programming. Our full-time professional team and seasonal leadership team continues to be in full operation, working from home, preparing for Summer 2020.

When will we decide if camp will run as planned and scheduled?
Please be mindful that this decision is not solely in our hands. We continue to vigilantly monitor all updates from the municipal, provincial, and federal governments and to abide by outlined guidelines. These public agencies play an integral role in the decision-making process. We are also working closely with local health officials, the Ontario Camps Association (who is also working closely with Ontario Public Health), and the Jewish Community Centers Association to ensure we are 100% prepared to deliver a safe, phenomenal camp experience this year. In the event this plan should change, we will communicate with you immediately.

Are final payments still due as scheduled on May 1, 2020? And, is the deadline for cancellation still scheduled for May 1, 2020?
We are very understanding that this time of uncertainty may also bring financial burdens on many of our families. The last thing we want to do is have this be in the way of higher priority expenses. We also recognize that it may be some time until we can make an official decision regarding how camp will operate under the circumstances. With all of this taken into consideration, we have decided to extend the last day to cancel and the due date for final payment of fees to June 1, 2020 . To be clear, no credit card payments or cheque deposits will be processed before June 1, 2020. We know the financial impact of this crisis has left many of our families in a difficult situation, and we are deeply sympathetic to the challenges many of our community members are facing. We are here to support you and your family.

What is Centre Camp’s contingency plan should circumstances change?
Our team continues to devote our time to planning for all contingencies as needed. We are thankful to have a very strong and committed leadership team committed to delivering the innovative and creative experience we offer our families year after year. As mentioned in our previous communication , we are planning for several possible scenarios and are prepared to make the necessary adjustments if required.
