We're Closed - What it Means
by Peggy Ganong

As you all know the Library has been closed since March 16. This is an indefinite closure because of the Covid-19 crisis. This means that the building is closed to the public and the staff is working from home. We are doing all we can to make this closure less problematic to our patrons and our various vendors are lending their assistance by extending their services. In this issue of the newsletter we will highlight some of the expanded and added services which we have available at this time.
Recreational e-Resources
During this period when you are unable to check out print materials and DVDs, you may still enjoy the ebooks, eaudiobooks and streaming services we have to offer. Below are some of the advantages that are currently available:

SimplyE – this is our newest access to ebooks and eaudiobooks. It includes not only our collection of titles from RBdigital and Axis 360, but also from the Connecticut State Library’s Baker & Taylor collection and Connecticut State Library’s RBdigital collection, plus more – just download the app and enjoy all these selections

RBdigital – you may also continue to use the RBdigital access as well. If you do not have a library card, you may still check out books from the Connecticut State Library’s eAudio and eBook collection. Click here, select the register option, create a username and password and use ctstatelib20 for the access code. Input your first name, last name, e-mail, and zip code. Check the box to accept the terms of service and privacy policy and click on the register button.

Axis 360 – this access is still available, however the vendor has generously added 4000 titles which may be found here

The Foundation Directory - Many of you have enjoyed the use of the Foundation Directory Online service here at the library. You would normally not be able to access the Directory remotely. However, during the COVID-19 crisis, the parent company Candid has graciously offered free remote access to our patrons.

Hoopla - Enjoy access to thousands of movies, television shows, music albums, ebooks, audiobooks and comics. Download the app and register with hoopla. During the COVID-19 crisis , we are proud to announce the addition of the Hoopla Bonus Borrows Collection with more than 1,000 top titles and hoopla favorites.

Kanopy – this is a free on-demand film streaming service with access to 30,000 movies and documentaries by downloading the Kanopy app

Children, Teens and Adults – these offerings from TumbleBooks are fun for all ages!
Additional e-Resources
We have just highlighted some of our recreational e-resources, but we also have some valuable educational sites as well for all ages! Check out the ones listed below: :

Online Databases – a variety of databases subscribed to by New Milford Public Library

Great Courses – back from RBdigital, this is a video-on-demand service for lifelong learning and personal enrichment with hundreds of videos on subjects ranging from photography to physics, astronomy to art, history to health, and more – there are courses on how to do it, how to learn it, or how it happened.

From InfoBASE, for these 4 new databases, username= newmilfordpl and the password = Library
