In order to provide a bubble-tight seal, ball valves from Milwaukee Valve features a “floating ball” design. A floating ball means that in the closed position, upstream pressure pushes against the ball toward the downstream seat. The pressure slightly deflects the ball into the seat to create the seal. Since the relation of the stem, ball and seats are symmetrical, the floating ball provides sealing from either direction, as previously described. Every Milwaukee Valve ball valve operates in this manner.
