Cybersecurity Skills Journal (CSJ)

Have an idea, thought, or experience you want to share regarding workforce capabilities as they relate to the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Cybersecurity Workforce Framework? The Cybersecurity Skills Journal (CSJ): Practice and Research is accepting abstracts. Submit your proposed manuscripts, and CSJ will help publish them. There will be two workshops on April 15 and April 17. Interested attendees need only attend one of the sessions. Members of the Editorial Board will discuss the CSJ's unique constructive process and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Call for Proposals Ends April 5!

Share your cybersecurity expertise and experience with others! The 2020 Community College Cyber Summit (3CS) is looking for proposals for breakout sessions for its upcoming event Aug. 4-6 at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. Entries can vary in length from half day, one day to one-, two- or three-hours and should fit into one of five tracks: Evidence-Based, Instruction, Practice, Program Development and Student. Proposals are due April 5.

Join the Discussion on GenCyberCoin

The National Cybersecurity Student Association is holding its next webcast on “GenCyberCoin-Development Journey of a Gamified Cybersecurity Web Platform” on Thursday, April 16, 8 p.m. ET. Presenter Dr. Vitaly Ford will discuss technical details on the front and back ends in an attempt to inspire others to work on cybersecurity education projects.

Students looking to expand their knowledge base, skillset and network circle while following their cyber career path should join the National Cybersecurity Student Association. Membership allows students to access over 50 scholarship opportunities, take part in cyber competitions around the world, have access to student member portals and more. Student membership is only $9.99 every six months. Enrollment runs through August and then September through February. Students can register at any time.

Interactive Learning With E-MATE

With schools, businesses and lives all moving online, E-MATE 2.0 is making it easier to learn. E-MATE is a National Science Foundation ATE project that includes interactive content. National CyberWatch member colleges are encouraged to share these activities with students. They allow students to work through scenarios as an ethical hacker to solve crimes while other animations take students through different cybersecurity terms and methods.

The Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce: Ensuring Community and National Resilience in COVID-19 Response (version 2) is intended to help State, Local, Tribal & Territorial (SLTT) officials as they work to ensure continuity of functions critical to public health, safety, and the economy.

NSA's 8th Annual Paper Competition

Support the National Security Agency’s (NSA) 8th Annual Best Scientific Cybersecurity Paper Competition by nominating the paper that did the most for the science of cybersecurity. The idea behind the competition is to encourage soundly-based research into all aspects of cybersecurity by recognizing recent work judged outstanding in this respect by Distinguished Experts and selected by NSA’s Director of Research. The winning paper is recognized by NSA for its achievements and the authors are invited to NSA to present the winning research. Papers eligible for the award are peer-reviewed papers published in 2019 and were not self-nominated. Self-nomination entails papers nominated by an author or co-author. Nominations close on April 15, 2020.

WiCyS Conference Now Online

After having to cancel its in-person conference, Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS) has moved everything online. WiCyS Virtual 20 is April 15-17 and includes presentations, networking, panels, birds-of-a-feather, lightning talks and a career fair (April 17, 1-5 p.m. CT). This virtual event is FREE to all WiCyS members. Members should update their profiles and resumes in the WiCyS Virtual 20 platform! Use email and member ID to log in HERE .
