Update from NACE President Rich Sanders

Well, Labor Day has come and gone...in Polk County, that means it's time to start thinking about the sugar beet harvest which includes plowing mud off the roads and getting our plows ready for another winter of fun. We will start stockpiling sand and salt to insure our intersections, hills, and curves stay free from ice and snow.

I forgot how fast summers go. Take into account four trips around the nation, starting in June, with the last being in late August to Orange Beach, Alabama and the Perdido Beach Resort for the ACCA Annual Conference.

National Roundabouts Week (September 17-21)

FHWA is pleased to share a message about the first National Roundabouts Week!  It will take place the third week of September (17th-21st).  The purpose of NRW will be to raise awareness about roundabouts and to provide a national platform to share the successes that state, local and tribal transportation agencies have had with them.

This will be a social media driven campaign.  FHWA will leverage our social media channels, seeding conversations (and hashtags) that will revolve around the following themes and topics, which we hope will then inspire you and your peers from around the country to add your own stories and experiences - and perhaps some great photos or videos as well:

PPRA launches RoadResource.org, industry-leading site for pavement preservation, recycling, and network management

While the demand for cost-effective network management solutions rises, many roadway managers still struggle to find the tools and nuanced expertise needed to successfully apply budgets toward the "right treatment, on the right road, at the right time."

Recognizing a need to help agencies at the state, county, and local level to make the right choices or their road networks and be the best possible stewards of their roads and of taxpayer dollars, the Pavement Preservation and Recycling Alliance (PPRA), comprised of leaders at industry associations and NACE corporate partners Asphalt Emulsion Manufacturers Association (AEMA), International Slurry Surfacing Association(ISSA), and Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming Association (ARRA), have developed a new, comprehensive tool - RoadResource.org. This digital hub offers more than 500 pages of accurate information about pavement preservation, recycling, and optimized network management.

Meet Staci- YOUR New Conference and Membership Manager

I am very happy to join the NACE team. I look forward to meeting and working with you onmaking the conference even stronger, responding timely to you, our members' needs, and increasing corporate partnerships. As Kevan mentioned, I spent the last ten years at the Regional Airline Association, so I am a bit of a transportation junkie. I am excited to trade in my knowledge of aviation acronyms for road and highway acronyms.
