Stay tuned for more upcoming information on the 70 fo 70 campaign this week. Until then, read up on what was announced last week!
Last week, University of Wisconsin System President Tommy Thompson announced a new incentive program that provides an opportunity for UW students vaccinated against COVID-19 to win a $7,000 scholarship.
Under the “70 for 70” campaign, vaccinated students who attend universities that achieve at least 70 percent vaccination rates will be eligible for one of 70 scholarships valued at $7,000 each. Students at all UW System universities except UW-Madison are eligible for the drawing.
The “70 for 70” campaign will work like this: Students who have been vaccinated will notify their universities. When a university’s student body reaches a threshold of 70 percent vaccination, the vaccinated students on that campus will become eligible for a drawing to award a proportionate number of the 70 scholarships based upon enrollment. To receive the scholarship, students must receive their full series of vaccinations by Oct. 15. If some universities don’t meet the 70 percent threshold, the share of scholarships awarded in the drawing will increase at those universities that meet the threshold. The cost of the campaign is expected to be about $500,000 funded by the UW System. READ MORE
Students will not only become eligible to win a scholarship, they also will be eligible for other Parkside prizes and gear. So Vax Up Rangers and encourage students to not only vax up but then tell us about it! Visit the UW-Parkside Vaccination page for more info on where to get vaccinated, and then follow these instructions to upload your information into the Parkside MyChart.
UPDATED: UW-Parkside Mask Requirement –
Summer Term
The following indoor mask/face covering guidelines are in effect until further notice:
- Masks/Face coverings are required inside campus buildings for unvaccinated individuals. Masks may be removed when eating, alone in a private office, and/or in one’s residence hall room.
- Masks/Face coverings are required in classrooms/labs for all participants (vaccinated and unvaccinated). Classrooms/labs are defined as spaces being used for academic, in-person instruction.
- Masks/Face coverings are optional for fully vaccinated individuals inside campus buildings (except in classrooms as defined above).
- Participants of youth camps must follow mask/face covering policies as directed.
We acknowledge that the wearing of a mask/face covering is NOT an indication of one’s vaccination status. Individuals may choose to wear a mask due to personal choice, underlying health conditions, and/or for the protection of vulnerable family members.
Remember, you can get vaccinated by calling the Student Health & Counseling Center at 262-595-2366 to make an appointment. Or you can visit https://www.vaccines.gov/search to find a vaccination clinic near you.

AAR Replacing DARS
We are excited to introduce a new advising tool this summer. The Academic Advisement Report (AAR) is an interactive audit tool that helps students and their advisors see their progress towards graduation.
The AAR allows students to track progress toward graduation by showing all requirements for their degree, including skills, university, general education, foreign language, diversity, and major/minor/certificate requirements, as well as whether a requirement is satisfied or not satisfied.
The AAR is replacing DARS. DARS will no longer be available as of July 30, 2021.
Training opportunities for AAR will be announced soon. You can view the AAR in an interactive online format or as a PDF; however, we recommend viewing the tool online.
Please contact UW-Parkside Business Analyst Jessica Cole if you have any questions.
