J-School students compete in Adobe Creative Club XD Creative Jam
|
JSchoolTech had two student teams participate in the Adobe Creative Club XD Creative Jam, in which 14 university Adobe Creative Clubs competed in a 48-hour XD design-athon beginning April 26 and ending April 28. Competitors joined virtually on Friday and listened to a motivational intro by XD Evangelist
Howard Pinksy,
who also presented the challenge's creative brief. Next, students had an XD training overview from Adobe's head XD designer. Then teams had 48 hours to complete the challenge. Adobe judges selected winners before teams were scheduled to meet again this evening to hear winning teams present their designs. JTech student teams were:
- Team A: Heidi Meyers, Nicole Mitchell and Maryln Heger
- Team B: Sheyenne Denton and Christian Toth
On Oct. 25, the J-School will be one of the on-site locations for the Adobe Creative Jam, which will be in conjunction with J-School Generations.

The Kansas high school state journalism contest is quickly approaching, and on-site judges are needed. Volunteer a couple of hours on Saturday, May 4, at the Kansas Union to give feedback to high school journalists. J-School students also are encouraged to help. Entries must be judged that afternoon.

The afternoon will include the presentation of the Hod Humiston Award, roundtable topics, a presentation from Sporting Kansas City announcers and staff, and a tour of one of the top professional sports venues in the country. Registration is $10 for members and $15 for non-members and is due May 2.

Ike’s Soldiers, a program that honors Dwight D. Eisenhower’s legacy through the compelling stories of the soldiers he led, is looking for students to gather and share these stories with the world through IKEducation programs and digital media platforms. Participants are asked to capture and edit videos according to the Eisenhower Foundation’s guidelines. For every interview that is submitted according to the guidelines, the Eisenhower Foundation will grant $50 to the student who conducted and produced the interview.
