Introducing the new
Population Health Matters e-newsletter
A MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN
2019 has brought tremendous excitement and change to the Jefferson College of Population Health (JCPH). Of course, our 19 th Population Health Colloquium was a standout event with over 700 attendees. I’m so appreciative of the speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees who made it such a huge success. We’re already beginning to plan for 2020, and I welcome your suggestions about what you’d like to see.
Our academic programs continue to evolve and improve to meet the demands of emerging leaders and working professionals who want to expand their knowledge and application of population health. And our new, redesigned Population Health Academy now offers more flexible attendance options (3-day or 5-day) The Spring session begins on May 6, 2019, and there are a few spots left; if you are interested, please register soon!

We’re excited about our new online Masters’ degree in Operational Excellence (OpX), which prepares leaders to be effective agents of change within their organizations by equipping them with knowledge and skills to facilitate and lead system and process-level improvements. (will use graphic somewhere in email).

And finally, I’m proud to share with you the viewing of our newly branded Population Health Matters e-newsletter. This new format is designed to help us communicate with you in a timelier manner. The e-newsletter will be sent out quarterly, supplemented by e-alerts that will provide you with concise updates and information as needed.

Value-Based Models Entering Specialties - the Oncology Care Model

Valerie P. Csik, MPH, CPPS

Healthcare in the United States is increasingly being shaped by the need to reduce cost and improve efficiency. The result has been the development of value-based models of care, particularly in the outpatient setting where growth is shifting. Since 2010 when the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) created under the Affordable Care Act legislation, three value-based models have emerged; Accountable Care Organizations, Medical Home Models and Bundled Payment Models.
