Rabbi's Message
A humble Chabad Rabbi, Yisroel Goldstein, was thrust into an unwanted limelight following the death of his friend and supporter Lori Gilbert-Kaye.
The senseless act of a demented young man whose sinister message of poison and hatred has resonated throughout the world and made him a celebrity to many disenchanted young men willing to forsake their miserable lives garnering instant notoriety for an inhumane cause.
This insanity must stop immediately.
We as Jews, must fortify our convictions in the ugly disfigured face of terror.
We as Jews must resolve to never back down from those wanting to besmirch our glorious past and auspicious future.
We as Jews must never forsake our ancestors and keep the Eternal Light of Israel and Judaism burning brightly to be a guiding force for humanity. However, it is difficult to communicate with some of you while staring at empty seats on Shabbat.
Our services are only once a month. Certainly, we can mark our calendars accordingly to make time to attend. How can we become a voice of dissent and dissatisfaction if we don't combat the heinous activities of those who seek to destroy us and our proud history of progress and ethics over 4,000 years? No group of people has ever given so much for so little appreciation in return.
As a reminder, our Shabbat service is this Friday, May 3rd. We cannot let our ancestors and future generations down. We just simply, CANNOT.

Demonization of Israel leads to Ant-Semitism. Sadly, our
reaction replicates the response of the Wise Men of Chelm.
Chelm was a shtetel in Eastern Europe located on a steep
mountain. When her citizens kept falling off the mountain, they called
an emergency meeting, and how did the Wise Men of Chelm resolve the
problem? They built a hospital on the bottom of the mountain. Huh?
Why would we allow anti-Semites, terrorists and bigots to
overrun our world while we build hospitals to treat the victims? Do we
not have to confront them when they start spouting their hate?
Doing nothing, good intentions, and expecting others to do
for us, as you know, isn't working out. Please allow me to recommend
contributing to your Temple (C.A.T.) Your interests are best served (the
most bang for the Buck) by providing our esteemed Rabbi Jerry Cutler,
with the tools (financial and numerical) to make our voices heard and
respected. He's doing his part. He has access to the difference makers,
and you can't do better than that.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
"Fiddler On the Roof" currently at the Pantages Theatre is an enthusiastic and pleasing rendition of the Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick 1965 iconic musical. Since it arrived and heralded on Broadway, the show has played throughout the world and probably beyond.
The exuberant cast is terrific with a few exceptions and the dancing and songs such as "L'Chaim-To Life!" "If I were A Rich Man," "Sunrise, Sunset," and "Tradition," are presented with enough spirit to open a brewery. The opening night audience was joyously receptive from the moment the curtain opened to its conclusion.
The laughter generated from Joseph Stein's book was uniformly uproarious.
Yechezkel Lazarov, as the beleaguered milkman, Tevya, facing the unenviable task of marrying off five daughters (personally, I have two more to go) convulses the audience with his contorted facial expressions initially concocted by the brilliant Zero Mostel.
The scenery and cast has been cut down from the original production but no one who was privy to seeing it didn't seem to notice or care as the bombastic musical numbers, thanks to Mr. Lazarov and his supporting cast notably, Maite Uzal as Golde, Jonathan Van Mering as Lazar Wolf, Jesse Weil as Motel and Jeffrey Busko as the friendly but unrelenting Constable. The daughters were uniformly excellent.
"Fiddler" soars throughout the evening with the audience mouthing the words to the songs and ready to jump on stage, if given the opportunity, during the exciting "Bottle" dance.
If you've seen "Fiddler On the Roof," I highly recommend that you see it again. If you haven't, take the kids and neighbors and friends, go and ENJOY.

With road accidents still a major concern for the Jewish State, one southern city introduces a creative solution.

The southern Israeli city of Ashkelon unveiled the country's first three-dimensional pedestrian crossing on Sunday.
Painted on the ground to give the illusion to incoming drivers they are coming into an obstacle, the innovative design was engineered to reduce the risk of collision.
Originally inspired by a 2016 Indian street-art project, the installation has been set up in several locations in the world, although it still hasn't seen mass adoption.
"We are constantly thinking about how to improve road safety," Ashkelon mayor Tomer Glam said, according to Israeli daily Maariv.
"I believe that with this innovative solution coming to our city, we will see fewer accidents and fewer casualties," he added.
According to police data, more than two thirds of accidents involving pedestrians are caused by driver behavior. Or Yarok (Green Light), a road safety organization, also says 79% of pedestrian injuries happen on a crossing - and claims about half the lives.
"Pedestrians have become the new transparent," Erez Kita, director of Or Yarok, told Mako. "We must improve the infrastructure around crossroads.... With simple and inexpensive operations it is possible to save lives," he added.
Last month, Tel Aviv also started experimenting with a different kind of pedestrian crossing, which attempts to grab the attention of road users away from their smartphones and onto the roads.
A strip of LED lights on the ground turns red or green in step with the usual 'walking man' across the road.
The aim is to unconsciously gain the pedestrian's attention to signal when it is unsafe to cross the road.
Road collisions are a major concern in Israel. Although there has generally been a downward trend in the number of casualties from road traffic accidents, 81 people have died since the beginning of this year, 22 of them pedestrians.

She doesn't look 101 and sounds as sharp as a tack! Love this gal!
She won't buy a new car until she has worn her old one out and it is still in new condition, after all it is only 84 years old (the car that is, oh, the lady...she's 101)
This lady's car is a 1930 Packard.
What a pleasant and spry lady she is.
Take note in the video that she lays a shop rag on the running board to step onto when she gets in and out of the car.
Then after she is in the car, she leans all the way down to the running-board to get the rag.
She is in great physical and mental shape for her age.
The car is not bad either.
