Peabody Town Hall

Thank you for the amazing feedback on the surveys last week. We appreciate everyone taking the time to respond about their remote learning experiences thus far. Mr. Orlando would like to invite everyone to a virtual town hall meeting this Thursday, April 2nd at 6PM where he will talk about our initial response, core findings of the surveys and our plan going forward, including more opportunities to interact with teachers online. He will also provide some time for Q&A at the end of the presentation as well. Please be on the lookout for the link to the meeting this Thursday. We hope that you can join us!
Governor Issues Stay at Home Order

Governor Ralph Northam today issued a statewide Stay at Home order to protect the health and safety of Virginians and mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. The executive order takes effect immediately and will remain in place until June 10, 2020, unless amended or rescinded by a further executive order.

The order directs all Virginians to stay home except in extremely limited circumstances. Individuals may leave their residence for allowable travel, including to seek medical attention, work, care for family or household members, obtain goods and services like groceries, prescriptions, and others as outlined in  Executive Order Fifty-Three , and engage in outdoor activity with strict social distancing requirements.

For the latest information about the COVID-19 outbreak, visit  virginia.gov/coronavirus   or  CDC.gov/coronavirus .

Free Wi-Fi Hotspot

During the current crisis, Ting has worked with our community to try and make sure everyone has access to critical communications infrastructure. Together, we have activated public drive-up Wi-Fi so people can access the Internet from their vehicle at the IX Park. Wi-FI can be accessed at this location from 7am to 8pm seven days a week. Below is a map of the park. Wi-Fi is activated in places that are highlighted in yellow.

There is a splash page welcoming Ting Park & Wi-Fi users that reminds people to stay in their vehicles, minimize social interaction, maintain social distancing protocols and adhere to the suggestions made by our local leaders.

In a further effort to support the Charlottesville community, Ting Internet has divided a $1650 donation among three amazing local organizations—the PB&J Fund, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and the Feeding the Frontline initiative—to help those who need access to food supplies at this time.

Please feel free to share this information with those that may need to teleconference for work, check in on friends and family, or grab some online education resources.
