Graduation Sunday, May 5
On Sunday, May 5th, we will celebrate our graduating High School Seniors. The Presbyterian Women will host a reception for the Seniors and their families, and we will recognize them in worship. Please join us as we joyfully celebrate their graduation and support them in prayer as they go forth from this place in new ways. We congratulate the following seniors: Abigail Hedgecock, Timmy Jones, Collier Leatherman, Emily Mitchell, Mary Morrison, Jackson Neal, Julia Patrum, Rachel Perdue, Kate Prager, and
Ross Wilder.
Join us in Celebrating Deborah Mesimer!
Please come for a reception honoring Deborah Mesimer, Church Administrator at First Presbyterian Church, on Thursday, May 9th in the Fellowship House from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the dining room. At 5:00 p.m. William Niblock, on behalf of the congregation, will present our gifts to Deborah in gratitude for her dedication and devotion to our family of faith from July, 1991 - May, 2019.
The Commons is looking for a few good men….and women!
If you can spend an hour or two a couple of times a month as a presence in the room it would be so helpful. You might have an hour of peaceful quiet time to read, pray or think yourself. Or you might have an hour of welcoming folks into the space. Do it with someone: it doesn’t have to be just you….would be a perfect place to spend some time with your spouse or a friend.
Our new mission is evolving, and we are adapting with it. Call Carrie Myers at 704-467-0962 (NOT the number in the directory) to learn more and get a brief orientation.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated wonderful items for the Church Street Market sale! The next collection date is Tuesday, May 7th, 1:00-4:00 p.m., in room 306 of the Will Young Building. Session Highlights from the April 9, 2019 Meeting
The Session joyfully met with and heard the faith statements of confirmands Lilly Bryant, Eli Farmer, Avery Garmon, Michael Gilbert, and Gregory Watson. The Session voted to recommend that each of these young people be received as active members of the church pending their public professions of faith in worship on April 14.
A reception to honor the longtime service of Deborah Mesimer will be held late in the afternoon on May 9th in the Fellowship House.
Suzanne Russell has been hired to take Deborah’s position and will begin work on April 23.
The BackPack Program storage and workroom will be moving to the 2nd floor of the Education Building to allow better access for loading and unloading.

Locations on our campus of first aid kits and AEDs are being reviewed to assure access. Training needs to use the AEDs are being assessed.
