A Message from Pastor Matt
|
|
I hope this week finds you well! This week I have been enjoying our middle schoolers on their local Bike Hike while thinking about Ephesians 2-3. It’s been a fabulous week with Lydia leading the program and talks. My main job has been to simply be a middle school adult leader and parent this week. It’s a different sort of experience! Every time students do a trip like this I am reminded of the power of the gospel…and the struggle. The joy that is in this community and the attempts to care for each student are always incredible to see. If you were here you would see our interns learning to take hold of the gospel and become leaders. You would see students for the first time think about whether faith really matters. You would see other kids who are just trying to figure out if they belong or wrestle with their anxieties over the course of a week. But, as we remain committed to the idea that Jesus’ love is an incredible gift, beautiful things do happen in adults and students’ lives. This Sunday we will hear about many things, but in the end our passage will be about the immensity of the love of God. My prayer for you is that you might be able to catch a glimpse of that love this week (as I have) watching our students, adults, and interns work at mimicking the love of Christ. I hope that when you catch that glimpse you are filled with delight and hope and that you give glory to our God!
Pastor Matt
p.s. An employee at the bowling alley I am working next to, just came up to tell me that they have never had a group of kids clean up this well after a meal. She was floored. It is good to remember that even our smallest demonstrations of Jesus’ love do good things of the hearts of our neighbors. Keep at it CPC!

Marshall Elementary and McLoughlin Middle School Family/Community Resource Center (FCRC) Updates:
Last year the beautiful new Marshall/Mac campus opened and this fall students will finally fill the buildings as schedules return to full capacity. During COVID, the Deacons and Marshall/Mac team have been actively communicating with Brenda Andrade (FCRC at Marshall) and Marisol Garcia (FCRC at Mac) and have been able to offer a wide range of support for students, families, and school staff. Thanks so much for your generosity!
It is with great joy and anticipation for the upcoming year, that we happily resume our annual Backpacks for Mac drive.
Brenda and Marisol have identified the items that are most needed. Here are the priorities for this year’s back-to-school drive:
1. BACKPACKS!
2. Other school supplies: highlighters, colored pencils, and composition notebooks.
3. You may financially contribute to support both schools by giving to CPC and designating “Marshall/Mac Ministry” in the memo line.
A backpack collection box will be located in the church Gathering Area, as well as the church office, beginning July 25. Let’s fill it up and, as we’ve come to say over the years, “attach some love” to Marshall and Mac students!
