A NOTE FROM PASTOR DAVID
Disorientation

It finally happened this week. I knew that it would. I forgot what day it was! These days of pandemic are very disorienting in addition to being dangerous. It is hard to lose our normal routines. Routines are important. Remember Admiral William McRaven's advice to the UT graduates at commencement: If you want to change the world, start by making your bed each day! I invite you to let our church become a part of your new routine. We are on Facebook Live every weekday at noon and on Sundays at our worship times of 8:30 and 11:00 am.

Before GPS, sailors used to get oriented by the North Star to navigate, and hikers would travel with the aid of a compass which pointed to True North. One of the ways I navigate my daily life is to orient myself around the biblical North Star: loving God and others.

Two daily questions help me find my way through life:

Where do I see God today and what can I do to bless someone today?

I hope this week's newsletter will help you and I to keep our lives oriented around Jesus and moving in his direction.

~David
HOLY WEEK EVENTS

Let's do something fun together to raise our Spirits and keep our faith growing as we go through this time of social distancing. "Spirit Week" begins on Palm Sunday and continues through Holy Week. Each day there will be a dress-up challenge posted on our Facebook page. Dress up, take pictures and post them on your own social media using #MUMCSpiritWeek and in the Manchaca UMC Group on Facebook. For added fun and spiritual growth, walk with Jesus through Holy Week by using the devotional guide for daily readings, pondering questions and prayer. All who participate will be put in a drawing for fun summer prizes such as a folding camping table, an inflatable swimming pool, and a Hopdoddy Giftcard!

Click on the small graphic to the right to see the full week of picture challenges and access the daily readings.

HOLD ON TO YOUR SUPER SILVER SAVER CUPS
During the season of Lent, many of us have been participating in the Super Silver Saver fund drive to support the many mission activites sponsored by our congregation.

Normally, we would turn in our cups on Palm Sunday, which is this Sunday, April 5th. Hang on to your cups, and keep filling them, if you are able.  Whenever we are able to gather at church again, we can bring in the money we've set aside and celebrate together our common offering of sacrifice.
