Nebraska Solar Schools Update
Today we are resuming our project of offering NEED Solar Energy Kits to schools throughout Nebraska. With the remaining funds in our Nebraska Environmental Trust and Facebook grants, along with additional money Nebraskans for Solar has committed to the project, we are able to continue partnering with K-12 schools in our state to advance renewable energy literacy in the 2021-2022 academic year. The solar kits are shipped by UPS from the NEED Project headquarters in Manassas, Virginia. Click here to learn more about the project.

Q&A
In each newsletter we feature a question and answer about renewable energy and related issues. Please send your questions to nebraskansforsolar@gmail.com
Q: We are moving from Omaha to Lincoln and would like to learn more about Lincoln Electric System’s rebate for solar systems. Where can we find that information?
A: LES has put together a two-page brochure that includes a brief description about the incentive: Customer-Owned Renewable Generation

LES customers may qualify for a one-time capacity payment of up to $1,000 per kilowatt of peak demand reduced. The total amount customers can receive is determined by the system size and primary direction the system is facing, for example:

  • Southern facing fixed-photovoltaic solar - the unit’s nameplate DC capacity (kW) x $375.
  • Western facing or single or dual axis tracking fixed photovoltaic solar - the unit’s nameplate DC capacity (kW) x $475.
