”Turning the World Around”
All-Alabama Multi-Congregation Service
10:00 a.m.
|
As we look toward the end of one of the most trying years of our lives, we can celebrate the things that do not change: love is still stronger than hate, hope will outlast despair, we never travel the journey alone! We are connected as Unitarian Universalists within our congregations and across Alabama and northern Florida, and throughout our nation. Let us celebrate our resilience and our hope for the tomorrows ahead!
Other UU congregations in Alabama meet at 10:00 a.m. (rather than our 10:45), so note the time difference for this very special combined service. Ministers, Religious Educators, Musicians and Regional Staff from our area have worked hard to create this combined worship experience.
So, for this service, you have two options. At 10:00 a.m., the service will premiere on YouTube here. You can watch it with other UUs and comment along in the chat. Following the service, please join the Virtual Coffee Hour (link in the Order of Service.) Alternatively, you can choose your own worship time and watch it whenever you want.

Annual AL Hispanic Association Christmas Dinner/Party
UUCH’s yearly hosting of the annual AL Hispanic Association (AHA) Christmas Dinner and Party has taken on a different form this year due to COVID-19. No big dinner for 100, no brightly decorated fellowship hall and festive tables, no kids on Santa’s lap being given presents, BUT one part hasn’t changed: we are still asking for monetary donations for gift cards for older children and teens. The Hispanic Association provides presents for younger children. Hospitality is coordinating gift baskets of cookies and RE is involved (see below for more!).
Monetary donations will be accepted through Nov 30 by check (note AHA in line item) and online at UUCH.org. Click on the “Donate” button below or on our website, under Connecting, Donate, Give Now, click on “select fund” and scroll down to "Hispanic Association Christmas Party." Let’s brighten up the holidays for our Hispanic neighbors!

Fraying
Fabric sometimes begins to fray. It comes apart where it has been stressed or injured. It needs to be gently stitched or woven back together again.
Where are the places you are feeling frayed? How can you begin to stitch those places back together?

Donating by Text or Online
|
|
To give a plate offering to UUCH from your mobile device, text the amount (without dollar sign) to 833-559-0257, and follow the instructions. Text giving is by debit or credit card only.
Like our other online and mobile giving options, this option is through Vanco, is secure, and has a good option for "plate" donations.

Care List
This Sunday at our Circle of Candles:
Mari Hinckley Wear lit a candle of joy: Happy birthday, George!
Nancy Pettus lit a candle of gratitude: Thanks to the Caring Committee for helping me during my recent surgery.
Kathy Fisher lit a candle of joy: Joyful my son’s surgery this past week was successful. Also thrilled I get to see some of my family this week.
Theresa and Tim Miller lit a candle of concern: love and healing thoughts to Erin as she recovers from surgery.
LaDawn Edwards lit a candle of joy: My mother has agreed to move to Alabama. I am so glad that I will be able to spend more time with her and help her get the activities and support for a better life.
Camille Scales lit a candle of joy and gratitude: I’m so very joyful and grateful that my dear 93-year-old Aunt Virginia survived a bout with COVID-19, and has returned to her apartment in a retirement community in Eastern NC.
Rose Deverzley lit a candle of sorrow: Missing many people this year. First that come to mind is always my mother. Nov. 6 was 31 years since she died much too young.
Paul and Bridgit lit a candle of joy: There is so much to be thankful for even in these perilous times.
The Delaceys lit a candle of joy: Deb finally has a week off. She, and most educators, are working to the point of utter exhaustion to produce lessons both in person and online.
Paul and Bridgit lit a candle of concern: COVID-19 is spiking and our holidays will be different.
paulw lit a candle of concern: For Brandon Davis, the church custodian, who is quarantining at home after contracting COVID-19.
Greeter-Pam Korb lit a candle of joy: Sarah came home yesterday from college for a 7 week break.
Rita Scholes lit a candle of gratitude: Thank you Barbara Hitt for the call. I may not be there in person but am always there in spirit. You are so lucky to be in Huntsville and able to attend in person, and I am grateful to be able to attend via Zoom. One teeny blessing for me in these horrible days. Again, thank you for being so accepting and caring.
Angela Arnold (she/her) lit a candle of joy: Joy for Jaimie and the gift of her lovely voice!
