Winter

"It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it."
--John Burroughs

"Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home. "
--Edith Sitwell

There is no hardship like facing the darkness of winter. Summer friends are far gone, nesting for the season. With the silence, the pause between breaths, mother blankets us in frost. The ice a reflection. Each barren tree a promise of renewal. Time for the deep slumber, the bear leaves no footprints, but dreams of the abundance to come. Plans made in winter, have all spring to root and summer to blossom.

Changes to the Board
As 2019 drew to a close we underwent a few changes to the board. President KiNur, and Secretary Honor stepped down. They had been with us over a year, and their help was greatly appreciated. They spent countless hours working for the board and the community. Through their leadership many hurdles were leapt over. We thank them for their effort and donation of time.
This leaves many openings in the board, if you are able and willing to help, please step forward.

A New Home
We are excited about the potential for a new home for our community! We are working with a potential donor to secure a permanent property for our ceremonies and Long Dance! This potential is still evolving, but we're just so happy about it we had to share. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers for weaving this dream into reality.

Fundraising
Circles of Empowerment is dangerously low on funds. We usually sustain ourselves during the year on what is collected from Long Dance, but since this year we had a small dance with a nominal entry price, we barely covered the dance itself. We will be holding fundraisers in 2020 to help us along. If you have ideas for fundraising, or can volunteer for one, or have items for raffle, please let us know.

Hua is Leaving
Because of our lack of earnings in 2019, we sadly cannot support paying Hua Anwa her regular salary. Which means she will most likely be moving to Oregon. If anyone has any ideas on how to keep her in this area, please let us or her know! Sweat lodge and moon circle will carry on, as the torch gets passed to new ceremonial leads.
