April 2020 NEWSLETTER
Stay SAFE. Stay STRONG.

I hope you are safe and feeling well. Please know that The Empowerment Center is here to support you during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Our children and families alike have been gripped with worry because of life's recent events. April is also Child Abuse Prevention Month. In recognition of this, my team and I are joining forces to provide professional services and free resources all month long to help mitigate the effects of these tough times.

"The Coach-Therapy Solution" series will provide LIVE online coaching to help families become more resilient during this crisis. In the meantime, we have begun to shift all our programs to virtual online events so that you and your loved ones can now receive our services and activities from the safety of your home.

We are praying for you and the families that we serve to stay resilient and #StrengthsStrong.

Sincerely,
Tiffany Baker, Founder of The Empowerment Center

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month...
Teresse Lewis, LCSW, Program Director
Did you know that, according to the CDC,  an increase in  financial and emotional stress as well as stress surrounding  physical health all make adults 3 times as likely to continue abuse or become abusive towards their children?

This April for  Child Abuse Prevention Month, learn tangible ways you can change this from being a reality for you or a someone you know.

PREPARED FOR YOUTH'S NEEDS

Last month our team  increased our skills by completing a  Youth Mental Health First Aid  training. We are grateful for this timely training since we've been inundated with mental health concerns with the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are also glad we have a Licensed Clinical Therapist in our leadership to help assist families during this crucial time of transition.
A special thanks to our facilitators, Dean Lesicko of Collaborative Learning Solutions and Gabriela DiGiovanni of Murrieta School District.

HELPING KIDS MANAGE BIG EMOTIONS DURING COVID
We just wrapped up our first round of Friendship Circle! We have now shifted our in-person sessions to online meetings so that our children could still receive support and encouragement even during these times of self-isolation.
Using evidenced-based curriculum, this round of Friendship Circle focused on managing strong emotions, such as anger and fear, and problem solving.
