State of Connecticut - Minimum Wage Information |
|
The following is the minimum wage through 2023. Effective October 1, 2019, not less than eleven dollars per hour.
- Effective September 1, 2020, not less than twelve dollars per hour.
- Effective August 1, 2021, not less than thirteen dollars per hour.
- Effective July 1, 2022, not less than fourteen dollars per hour.
- Effective June 1, 2023, not less than fifteen dollars per hour.

Single-Use Plastic Bag Fee |
|
Important Reminder: As a result of the ban on single-use plastic bags that will take effect on July 1, 2021, the single-use plastic bag fee will sunset as of June 30, 2021. Retailers will no longer have to collect the fee as of July 1, 2021.
In accordance with Conn. Gen. Stat. § 22a-246a, effective August 1, 2019, retailers making sales in Connecticut of tangible personal property to the public had previously been required to collect a $0.10 fee per single-use checkout bag. Pursuant to Executive Order No. 7N and No. 7NN issued by Governor Lamont, the Plastic Bag Fee was suspended from March 26, 2020 through June 30, 2020.

CT Paid Leave Authority (PFMLA) Quarter 2 Deadline |

The Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFMLA) offers Connecticut workers the opportunity to take time to attend to personal and family health needs without worrying about lost income. The CT Paid Leave Authority provides Connecticut’s workforce access to paid family and medical leave benefits by offering helpful tools and resources to help administer this new program.

Governor Lamont Announces Launch of Program Allowing Children To Receive Free Admission at Connecticut Museums This Summer |
|
Under the finalized program, from July 1 to September 6, 2021, all Connecticut children age 18 and under – plus one accompanying adult – will receive free admission to any of the participating museums, including historic house museums, historic sites, historical societies, art museums, children’s museums, science centers, special-interest museums, natural history museums, university museums, arboretums/botanical gardens, and zoos. Some of the participants include the Connecticut Science Center, Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, Mystic Aquarium, and Mystic Seaport Museum, among many others. Industry Introduces New State, Local Advocacy Initiative |

AHLA and AAHOA today announced the creation of the American Hospitality Alliance (AHA) at the International Society of Hotel Associations’ summer meeting. AHA will promote the hospitality industry at the state and local levels by harnessing the power and influence of industry leaders and directing it toward advocacy and political engagement. The strategic partnership between AAHOA, AHLA, and leading state hospitality associations will encourage pooling resources and streamlining efforts to educate lawmakers at the state and local level.
AHLA and AAHOA have long recognized the importance of state and local governments in policy issues affecting hoteliers – including COVID-19 liability, illegal hotels masquerading as short-term rentals, drive-by lawsuits, tax reform, and workforce development. This announcement brings significant benefits to hoteliers across the country as AHA’s advocacy efforts will focus on these issues and more that are key to boosting the hospitality industry’s recovery as the country reopens.
AHLA and AAHOA will co-chair AHA, and an advisory board of seventeen industry representatives and staff serving one-year terms will steer the Alliance’s priorities and policy initiatives.
