The Parent Teacher Council welcomes you back to the new school year! As a key component of our school, the PTC provides support for the students, faculty, staff and administration of each campus. Almost every aspect of school life is enhanced because of the dedication and commitment of this group. Your school fees included $10 for your PTC membership so there is no need to join separately, you are already a member!
Things to know about your PTC:
- We are one unified organization with a representative from each campus.
- We plan to do ONE major school fundraiser (Classic Cookie Dough Sale) in the Fall. We will NOT conduct a second fund raiser in the Spring if we raise enough to cover annual expenses! We will have an option for "donation only" if you do not want to sell cookie dough but want to contribute.
- We will continue to replace meetings with newsletters!
- Each campus organization supports their individual service projects (Donuts with Dads, Muffins with Moms, Grandparents’ Day, field day, etc.)
- We have created a budget for the year with the activities we plan to support using the funds raised in our Fall Cookie Dough Sale. Any additional requests or funds will be agreed upon by the PTC representatives in consultation with MCPS administration.
Please take the time to meet your local campus representative and do not forget to volunteer your time to this very busy and vital group!
The Campus Representatives are:
|
|
Cookie dough orders can be picked up on Tuesday, September 24th from 2:30-4:30 at each campus.
Whichever campus the parents ordered from is where their order needs to be picked up. We will need volunteers for pick-up day, so please let us know if you can help! Your PTC campus representatives are listed in the PTC News section of this email below.
**Please note:
If parents do not want to buy or sell cookie dough, the PTC is offering a donation-only option, as well. Their students can still participate in dress down and be eligible for the family fun pack drawing.

Child Protection Training & Renewal
|
|
All of our volunteers must complete the Archdiocese Child Protection course. Once you have completed the initial course you may renew online annually.
All renewals for 2019-2020 must take place no later than November 1, 2019.
For NEW volunteers who have not completed Child Protection training:
The next Child Protection training will be held at the Middle/High School campus on
Wednesday, September 25 at 6:30PM.
If it has been more than two years since your last training/retraining, you must create a new CMGConnect account and attend an initial training class.
The Safe Environments Program (Child Protection training) is required of all employees, all volunteers who have substantial contact with minors, and all clergy. The objective of the program is to provide specific training in the prevention, recognition and reporting of child abuse, as well as specific training in providing for safe environments for minors enrolled in Archdiocesan sponsored activities.
The 2019 Monthly Training Schedule may be found
here
.
In order to complete the initial training, you must:
- Log onto CMGConnect to create an online account. (Instructions for creating an account may be found here.)
- Complete the online Initial Live Safe Environment Training & Background Check Curriculum
- Attend an Initial Training Class (Pre-Registration is MANDATORY for attendance.)

- If you have any questions, please call Leanne Oberkirch 251-434-1559.

|
For returning volunteers who have completed training before:
We have a new system for Child Protection Retraining. It requires that you have an CMGConnect on-line account. Since you have previously trained, an account has already been set up for you. This is how you access that account.
- If you have visited the CMGConnect site before, use your existing user name and password.
- If you know it has been more than two years since your last training/retraining, you must create a new account and attend an initial training class.
- If this is your first time accessing your CMGConnect account, you can access it by entering the following information:
- When asked for your username, type in your FirstName.LastName.AOM.
- When asked for your password, type in 1234.
- If the system does not recognize you, try the following fixes:
- You may have the same name as someone else in the system – when asked for your user name, type FirstName.MiddleInitial.LastName.AOM
- You may have entered your nickname – when asked for your user name, type your legal FirstName.LastName.AOM
- If you have not visited your CMGConnect account before, you will be prompted to update your password. Once you have entered and saved your new password, the system will log you out and require you to sign in again using your user name and new
- Start the 2019 RENEWAL Training for Clergy/Employees or Volunteers depending on your role.
