Friends,

In the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Dorian, I hope you'll consider praying, giving and possibly going  to help our neighbors in the Bahamas and those along our coast who have been impacted by this horrific storm.  Suggestions on how to pray, give and go are below.

Another way to help is to join us for our October Rise Against Hunger meal packing event.  Rise Against Hunger sends meals into areas hit by disasters, and is working hard to get meals and supplies to the Bahamas.  Our meals may be sent there, or used for much needed school feeding programs in impoverished countries.  Either way, you'll be making a difference and coming together for a fun day as we celebrate our millionth meal packed at Edenton Street.

There are many opportunities to put our faith in action this month, and I hope you find several in the highlights below that inspire you to go out and serve in love.

Grace & Peace,
Renae

Hurricane Dorian Relief

Pray  - Pray for those impacted by this storm and for their loved ones.  Pray for the restoration of families, homes, power, and a sense of normalcy.  Pray for the responders and officials who faithfully serve to aid before, during, and after storms.

Give - To UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) where 100% of the proceeds are utilized to offer aid and resources to the storm victims.  UMCOR is already partnering with Bahamas Methodist Habitat and on the ground partners to respond to the damage caused by Dorian.  Give here
(select disaster relief in the drop down).

Go  - Once damage and needs are assessed, teams will be sent to help those impacted by the storm.  I f you're interested in being connected to a NC work team email Suzanne.  If you are interested in future trips to help rebuild in the Bahamas connect with Bahamas Methodist Habitat.  Click here  if you'd like to sign up for Early Response Team training and certification  to help in the immediate aftermath of future storms.
