Montgomery Repeats Best Grand Slam Junior Results
Achieves Career High World Junior Ranking

Robin Montgomery cruised into the Round of 16 at the US Open Junior tournament for the first time in her career. The 14-year-old faced fellow American, Katrina Scott, who advanced into the quarterfinals with a 7-5, 6-3 victory on Thursday.

Montgomery's 2019 result shows her impressive improvement since 2018 when she lost in the qualifying rounds. With the appearance in the third round, Montgomery repeats what she first achieved this summer at Wimbledon and her best result at a Grand Slam Junior competition.

"Robin is extremely precocious," said JTCC CEO Ray Benton. "At 14-years-old she is more than holding her own against the world's best juniors at the top international championships in the under 18 age group. We are enormously proud of her work ethic."

The DC native partnered for the first time with Russian Polina Kudermetova to contend for the girls' doubles title. The duo met the #6 seeded American team of Savannah Broadus and Abigail Forbes in the Round of 16 where they suffered a heartbreaking loss where they battled courageously before falling short 6-3, 3-6, [14-12] on Wednesday.

Montgomery has achieved a career high world junior ranking of 41 making her the second youngest player in the top 50 rankings.
