Parent/Guardian Survey
Welcome to the Middle School Out of School Time Task Force Options Survey! Beginning the 2020-21 school year, the Middle School school day will be from 9:10 a.m. to 3:52 p.m. As a part of the Middle School Out of School Time Task Force planning process, we are trying to determine if enrichment activities, academic support, and athletics should be held after school or a combination of before and after school. Your input is very important for the task force’s planning work. Students and teachers have taken a survey to provide their feedback. This link is to the survey intended for parents/guardians. Look at both Option A and Option B and let us know what you think!

Thank you for your participation!

Please take the survey before noon on Tuesday, March 17, 2020
Note:The website says the survey needs to be completed by Monday, March 16 but you have until March 17.
Influenza (flu) Season
Influenza (“flu”) continues to be widespread in Minnesota. Symptoms of influenza include fever, cough, sore throat, headache, body aches, fatigue, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea.
Keep your student at home and consider seeking medical attention if they have typical flu symptoms as listed above or any of the following:
  • Fever of 100 degrees or more. Students need to stay home for 24 hours after their temperature returns to normal without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
  • Vomiting or diarrhea. Students need to stay home until 24 hours after the last episode.
  • Any uncontrolled cough.
  • Any rash for which you do not know the cause. Check with your family physician/clinic before sending the student to school.
  • Strep Throat. May return 12 hours following the first dose of antibiotics, if fever free and well enough to fully participate in school.
If you would like to speak to the school nurse about your student’s illness please call Jeanelle Rasmussen at 952-928-6311.

If you have specific concerns about coronavirus, the Minnesota Department of Health has set up a hotline at 651-201-5414 to answer general questions. You can also find the most current information at the Minnesota Department of Health website ( www.health.state.mn.us ) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website ( www.cdc.gov ).

8th Grade Families: Community Project Update
This week, students continued working on their  presentations  for their Community project. Presentations are about the journey from beginning to end of their project. Individual presentations should be between 6-8 minutes and groups should be 8-12 minutes. Students may use a visual but it is not required. Students should give as much evidence as possible in their presentation as they are receiving a summative assessment score in third quarter on four criteria. No question and answer session will happen after the presentation is done.

Students should use their presentation checklist on page 11 of their Action Book ( click here to view ). 8th grade students will be presenting to 6th and 7th grade classrooms during the  afternoon of March 24th.  It's important that 8th grade students are present to participate and present that day.

Students have been given time to work on these presentations but   time above and beyond class to refine them may be necessary. Students must plan this out.

Please feel free to forward general questions to me, specific questions regarding your students' presentations should be directed to your students' community project supervisor.
