Calling All Bakers and All Who Love Cake
Saint Paul's celebrates birthdays once per month with prayer, song, and cake at 10:30
AM in Tyler Hall on the second Sunday. We would love to have you sign up for a special month and give the gift of cake, or team up with a fellow baker and bring a homemade treat. Cakes need to be large enough to serve 40-50 people, so a half sheet is usually the perfect size. You can even help serve the cake to our church family. "The Augusta Virtuosi" and Grigor Arakelian

The Aiken Civic Orchestra presents "The Augusta Virtuosi," a concert of Baroque masters Bach, Handel, Telemann, Vivaldi, and more, on Saturday, February 8, at 7:30
PM at Saint Paul's Church. This free concert features a group of high-level skillful performers from all over the world, as well as local musicians. The performance will consist of a wide variety of stylings from the 13th, 17th, and 18th centuries, and the early Sacred and Baroque period, as well as pieces by composers Grigor Arakelian, Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi. The concert is free and open to the public, donations are greatly appreciated. All proceeds will support the regional nonprofit music organization Aiken Civic Orchestra for their Volunteer's Excellent symphonic performances through the years and greater future in CSRA.

INQUIRER'S CLASS
Location: The Chapel
Beginning this Sunday, Fr. Muir will lead a six-part class for those who are interested in learning more about this church, its beliefs, governance, origins and worship. Regardless of your current status (not baptized, former member of another denomination, etc.) this class prepares you, should you so choose, to participate in our rite of initiation, which will take place when the bishop visits on February 23rd. This class is open to ALL and is frequented by lifelong Episcopalians who wish to refresh or grow in faith.
Fr. Jenkins will lead the parallel class for teens around the age of 16 who wish to prepare for the Rite of Confirmation.

WOMEN OF THE BIBLE

Please join the Daughters of the King as they present another Women of the Bible Series during Epiphany. This five-week Christian Formation Class will be Sunday mornings January 19 through February 16, 9:30-10:30 AM. The Daughters along with their invited guest, Rabbi Shai from the Congregation Children of Israel will explore the characters and the significance of Miriam (Sister of Moses), Deborah (Judge, Prophet and Warrior), Hannah (Mother of Samuel), and Mary (Mother of Jesus) through their Life Story and their Songs documented in the Bible. It is open to all.

WEAVING GOD'S PROMISES
Location: The First Classroom in CMC
Our bigger children will immerse themselves in an Episcopal formation experience rooted in the stories of our faith as presented in John's Gospel. In this second of a three-year cycle, our children focus on
stories of individual encounters with Jesus, transformation in God's love, and the saints of the church. Our theme in this curriculum year is "Once we were no people, but now we are God's people." Every session incorporates theology and history from our Episcopal-Anglican perspective.

GODLY PLAY
Location: The Godly Play Room
We take children and their relationship with God seriously and seek to provide both space to foster encounters with God and the language necessary to make meaning of those experiences. Within the Godly Play classroom, the Biblical narrative is lovingly presented to children using beautiful materials with an invitation to step into each story with awe and wonder. Children are then allowed time to respond to and reflect on their experience of the story.

HELP WANTED
Tuesday's Music Live Volunteers
Tuesday's Music Live, America's largest luncheon concert series, is celebrating its 32nd season. The free noon concerts regularly attract standing-room-only audiences and often more than 200 patrons stay to enjoy lunch in the River and Berlin Rooms. Corporations, foundations, and individuals pay for the cost of the musicians and the lunch receipts pay for the caterer and labor expenses. Julia Vagovic coordinates a team of volunteers who assist with the lunch operation. Some volunteers work for an hour (from 3-4
PM) on the Monday afternoon before the concert. All the tables are dressed with linens, crockery, and tableware. On the morning of the program volunteers begin arriving at 10:30
AM to take the plated food to the tables. During the lunch the volunteers circulate among tables, often greeting patrons, many of whom have been coming for years. Georgia State Floral donates flowers and volunteers arrange them. Saint Paul's Church hosts the series which attracts almost 5,000 people annually. All of this makes possible a very successful program that brings thousands to Saint Paul's Church annually. If you'd like to learn more about becoming a Tuesday's Music Live volunteer

Bring your mid-week evening to a prayerful close in a still, candlelit sacred space with one another and God. Compline is a much beloved, simple prayer service for the end of the day. It also may be observed in private at the end of your day and is found on p.127-135 in The Book of Common Prayer.

NEW outreach opportunity at the Master's Table Soup Kitchen. This year, as requested, Saint Paul's has added a serving team to our Saturday outreach. The Prep Team (18+ years-old) works from 8:55-10:30
AM. This is a great opportunity to get to know other parishioners while chopping, stirring, and preparing lunch for 320 guests. The NEW Serving Team (13+ years-old) works from 10:25
AM-12:30
PM. This is an especially good opportunity for youth who are required to have service hours with community contact. Saint Paul's next Master's Table Soup Kitchen date is Saturday, February 22.

Bishop Benhase's Visitation to Saint Paul's

The Annual Episcopal Visitation is Sunday, February 23. Bishop Benhase will preside at the Holy Eucharist with the rite of Confirmation and Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows for all members. All parishioners are invited to a conversation with the Bishop during the Forum in the Berlin Room at 9:30
AM. There will be NO 8
AM service on the 23rd; however, the Celtic Evening Prayer, Healing, and Communion service is at 5:30
PM.
