Dear Confirmed Credit Union Cherry Blossom Participant:

The COVID-19 virus is keeping you from running the 48th edition of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run or the 5K Run-Walk, but it cannot keep you from running 10 miles or 5K in our first-ever Credit Union Cherry Blossom FREE Virtual Run presented by ASICS, Garmin and Medstar. It's easy, it's fun and it's conducive to doing alone as you practice "social distancing."

Why: Many of you worked hard in preparation for the 2020 Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run or 5K Run-Walk. The cancellation stripped away your chance to reap the benefits of all of your training. The Race Organizing Committee would like to provide you with the closest we can get to the actual race as a way for you to celebrate your achievement.

Who: The Virtual Run is open to everyone who was a registered participant in the 2020 Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run or 5K Run-Walk.

How Much? The Virtual Run is FREE!

When: Your Virtual Run may be completed any time between the time you receive this email and 11:59 P.M. on Sunday, April 5, 2020.

How to Do Your Virtual Run:

  • Run Your Distance: 

    • Your Virtual Run should be the same distance as the event you originally registered for. Ten Mile registrants should complete a 10 mile Virtual Run, (although on the results report form they may choose to switch to the 5K Virtual Run-Walk, just as they could in the "real" 10 mile); 5K Run-Walk registrants should complete a 5K Virtual Run. There are no time limits for either race.
    • Run on any course at any time between now and 11:59 P.M. Sunday, April 5, 2020 (see details below about running 10 miles on your treadmill while viewing a simulated video of the actual race course).

  • Submit Your Time:  Go to  http://www.cherryblossom.org/theraces/virtualrun2020.php and

    • Sign in using your name and date of birth
    • Enter your time and location of your run
    • Upload a photo and/or a short videos if you wish
    • NOTE - Those submitting a photo of their finishing time on a Garmin watch or of themselves wearing ASICS shoes will be eligible for special prizes.

     

  • Get Your Results:  After April 5, results will be posted at http://results.sporthive.com/events/6646760141680814848

    • Overall listings, searchable results and age group rankings will appear
    • Team Results (5 runners) will be available as well; encourage your team members to complete the virtual run as it falls within the CDC group size guidelines
    • Download your Finisher Certificate documenting your participation
    • You will be able to look at your results with Run Pix interactive results at http://www.runpix.co/arace11/70/chy20/rp.php using data from last year's race to determine information about this year's Virtual run.

And Finally, the Small Print: When you entered the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile or 5K Run-Walk last fall or this winter, you signed a waiver in which you acknowledged the risks of the event and agreed to the rules. The same waiver terms apply to the Virtual Run. The Treadmill Option

Did you know you can run your Virtual 10 Mile on a treadmill while viewing the actual course?

If you have access to a treadmill and an iPad or Android tablet (sorry, no phones), you can do your 10 Mile Virtual Run on the SIMULATED Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile course for FREE, thanks to Outside Interactive.

Run the simulated course at your exact pace while viewing peak cherry blossoms. You can even break the finisher's tape! CLICK HERE to view a brief trailer.

After completing your Simulated Treadmill Virtual Run, you can note your time and enter your location as "Outside Interactive treadmill" on the Virtual Run recording form.
