Fall into dancing and Polka On!

Happy 5th anniversary to Theresa Parker and Gary McKee. Yes, they have been publishing the Texas Polka News for 5 years! Theresa and Gary reflect on this accomplishment. This issue has lots of photos and recaps the polka ride over the past 5 years. Gary also gives a thumbs up to dancers in training - those young kids having fun on the dance floor. Justin Everett reviews an oldie but a goodie CD by the Red Ravens and profiles DJ Heidi from Denton. He also helps us remember Rosie Mikula who recently passed away. Festival season has begun. Learn more about the Western Swing & BBQ Festival in Lockhart, Raise the Roof Fundraiser at Twin Sisters Dance Hall in Blanco, Schuetzenfest in Round Top, Kolache Fest in Hallettsville is celebrating its 25th year, Kolache Fest in Caldwell is celebrating its 35th year, and get ready for the Oktoberfest circuit - Fort Worth, McKinney, Houston, San Antonio, and Victoria. Of course, we have your September calendar of dances, festivals, and live music events, and the listing of church picnics. WEEKLY LAUGH
Dad went to Popeye's to get the kids something to eat. His daughter wanted the kid's meal with a leg so he said, "Kid's meal with the leg," and the lady said, "Which side?"
Dad thought for a moment and said, "I guess the right side, hell, I don't know what the difference is."
After several moments of laughter she said, "No honey which side would you like to go with the leg? Mashed Potatoes or Fries?"
