E-News                    Newsletter #98                       September 2019
Dear Members,

2019 Annual Training Symposium/Conference

We are 3 weeks away from our annual Conference in beautiful Denver
Colorado!!!  We have an outstanding lineup of presentations this year!
You've asked for more hands on driving and we will have it this year!  You
will have the opportunity to drive at two tracks!  Colorado State Patrol and
Adams County will both have activities set up!  In addition to our vendor
reception you will have unique opportunities to network with other members,
Board members, and even presenters in our hospitality suite.

You still have an opportunity to sign up as registration is still open!!  The
Embassy Suites is close to filling up so please reserve your room and
register for the Conference today!   Go to  www.alertconference.org

      Bruce Cabral Memorial Scholarship

As many of you know we have a raffle on the last night of the conference to help fund the Bruce Cabral Scholarship. Last year we had an outstanding assortment of items including TV's, Yeti Coolers, Yeti Items,  police memorabilia and many items from Cabela's outdoors. So that we have lots of items to raffle off,  we are asking everyone attending the conference to please bring something from their agency to contribute to the raffle.  Please consider bringing coins, hats, shirts, or anything of interest to a police officer or trainer.  Maybe something unique to your region or agency.  If you don't want to bring it on the plane please reach out to us and you can have it shipped to the conference beforehand.  The more items we have the more successful the raffle will be!

ALERT Facebook

Folks, our Facebook page is constantly being updated with new information, articles, stories, etc.  If you haven't already done so please "Like" ALERT's page.  We are at 945 likes, let's get to 1000 before the conference!  Ask all your LE friends to "Like' as well.  Through this we can get the word about our organization to as many LEO's as possible!  If you have any information you would like posted please send to me. I wanted to have pictures of EVOC training being conducted by our members from around the country and Canada.  Next time you are doing training snap a few pics and send to me so we can all see EVO training in action.

LOCATION NEEDED 2020 Conference

I know we haven't even started our 2019 Conference but the Board is already thinking about our 2020 conference!  Although ALERT was started 30 years ago at a meeting at the FBI,  next year will be 30 years of our official charter as an organization!  If you are interested in hosting the 2020 ALERT International Training Symposium/ Conference please let us know.   Send a request (email) to President Bush    [email protected]  expressing your desire to be considered as a host site for next year's conference.  If you are attending this years conference and are interested in hosting next year, the Board can sit down with you and discuss any questions you may have.

Closing

Finally,  as I've said many times before,  I'm again asking all ALERT members be an advertiser and an ambassador to the organization.  We are all involved in training and there are hundreds if not thousands of trainers out there who we can connect with.  We as trainers have a passion for saving lives and making things better.  Unfortunately Law Enforcement related crashes are not on the decline.   As of this newsletter, there have been 27 automobile related deaths and 14 single vehicle crashes deaths so far in 2019.  There are still many folks who have never heard of ALERT, "the driver training organization".  Our organization believes in making training better so eventually crashes in our profession will decline.  We need to ALL work together to push the word about our organization and this year's annual conference.

Thank you, stay safe , and God Bless,

        Geoff Bush
        ALERT President
