Alliance for Children hosted a THINK BABIES™ breakfast for business and community leaders on January 25th at the Union County Chamber of Commerce.
Susan Butler Staub, guest speaker, shared why we must focus our efforts on babies by supporting working mothers, gaining better access to quality child care and making it more affordable. The need for health insurance and overall support for working families along with time off for new mothers, accommodations for pregnant employees and home visits for new parents.
Did you know a
baby's early experiences shape the brain's architecture into a strong-or fragile-foundation for learning, health, and success in the workplace. Adverse early experiences, such as poverty, can weaken babies' brain development and follow them their entire lives. A state's ability to build a strong, competitive economy in an increasingly global marketplace is jeopardized when the future of so many young children is compromised. By evaluating these facts and
using them to improve relevant programs and services, North Carolina can re-prioritize infants, toddlers, and their families and change the future for all of us.
That's why ZERO TO THREE created the Think Babies™
campaign: to make their potential our national priority.
The science is clear: We must act now to ensure a positive future for generations to come.
