Top Ten Ways to Stay Connected
1. Online Worship

Online Worship this Sunday, June 14th at 9:15 am and 11:00 am via Facebookhmumc.org and YouTube

This week's sermon title: "Putting Words in Your Mouth"
by Rev. Jeremy Lawson
Scripture:  Acts 4:1-31

It's been said that no good deed goes unpunished, and it's likely that the apostles, John and Peter, would agree. After all, the only "crime" they had committed that landed them in jail was healing a disabled man who couldn't walk. And yet what ultimately freed them from captivity wasn't some high-powered lawyer who negotiated their bail or a lenient judge who had mercy on them. No, Luke says it's because they spoke with "boldness and courage." Today, we'll at how the Holy Spirit can "put words in our mouth" when we don't know what to say.

Join us for worship Live on Facebook , on our website and on YouTube at 9:15 am and 11am. And remember services are always available online at  www.hmumc.org/media .

NEW: Our 11:00 traditional service will offer an online bulletin!  You will be able to view and download Sunday morning on  hmumc.org

2. Father's Day

Send Us Your Father's Day Photos and Videos!

Let's celebrate all Dad's and Father figures during our online worship services this Father's Day, June 21st!

Please submit a video of you or your kids doing their favorite "Dad Joke" and/or a picture of your kids with a message to their dad via the "Father's Day" button on hmumc.org/athome

The only requirement is that the video be in "landscape" mode and try to be mindful of background noise so we can hear you loud and clear!

All videos and pictures are due to the church no later than Wednesday, June 17. Let's show our dads some LOVE!

4. The Pantry

The Pantry at Hamilton Mill - NEW WAYS TO HELP
Help Make a Difference in our Community!

The Pantry needs our help now more than ever before. We are feeding more families, we are providing great food, and we are helping our community come into contact with the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Here are few NEW ways to help:
1. Become a regular, weekly volunteer.
We have been working with a very limited crew and are excited to safely expand the team! If you meet the following criteria, we would appreciate your support of our Pantry on Monday, Wednesday or Friday each week.
  • You are in good health, do not have pre-existing medical conditions, and do not fall into any of the current advised categories to shelter in place (medically fragile, immunocompromised, over the age of 65, etc.).
  • You are available and committed to serve on a fairly regular basis. Shifts take place Monday, Wednesday, Friday between 10am and 4pm. There are four slots per every 2 hours, so you can be flexible with that works for your schedule!
  •  You are willing to commit to social distancing in your personal life to protect our patrons and other volunteers. We serve the most vulnerable population in our community, so collectively volunteers agree to participating in clear social distancing practices outside of The Pantry. While volunteering at The Pantry, you also agree to wear a mask at all times with no exception.
  • You have a positive attitude and are willing to learn and serve our community!
Sign up for your first shift by clicking HERE. It's that easy!

2. Truck Drivers Needed.
We are in need of more drivers to pick up our weekly Amazon deliveries. Picking up from Amazon gains us 20,000 pounds of food every week, which is enough food to feed 400 families for a week.  By driving to pick up these donations, you are quite literally impacting hundreds of families in our community. Currently, we only have three drivers on our rotation. To be one of our drivers, we just need you to be comfortable driving a 16ft Box Truck, have a clean driving record, and be in reasonably good physical shape as some help loading and unloading is required. If you can help, please contact the Driver Team Lead, Chris Brown at lambdazeta541@gmail.com.

3. Join our Pantry Prayer Team!
We are continuing to look for avenues to better engage with our patrons in meaningful ways while we continue to practice safe social distancing. We receive a great deal of prayer requests every week, and we would like to pray over each request as a church. As a participant of the prayer team, you will receive a list every week of the prayer concerns of our patrons, and we simply ask that you spend the week praying for them. We believe in the power of prayer! If you would like to join this team, click HERE to sign up.

We invite you to give both to The Pantry and to HMUMC as we seek to be Christ in our community during this new time. To give, please visit   www.hmumc.org/give  and select the fund "Food Pantry"

If you have any questions, please reach out to Ryan Jones at   Ryan.Jones3@Regions.com .

7. Student Ministry

Online summer fun begins this week!  We have lots of fun planned!

E3 and Confirmation: James Study (all 6th- 12th grade students)
This week we look at James 4:13-17 and talk about making plans.

We encourage all to watch the video and then talk with your student about the difference in our plans and God's plans. Where does arrogance and pride come in and how can make strides to keep our thoughts and minds focused on God?

Join us for ZOOM Tribal Games! Our first one was a HUGE success!

Login on TUESDAY nights June 23, July 7, and 21 at 8:30pm for TRIBAL GAMES!  All students rising 6th thru 12th are invited to join!  Be prepared for fun, games, and lots of prizes!  Links for zoom calls will be sent through small group leaders and emails.  If you miss the link, message David or Heather and they will send it. The students had FUN!

Starting Thursday, June 11th: Brunch and Bible Study - Online

Join us on Thursday, June 11, 25, July 9 and 23  at 11:30am for BRUNCH AND BIBLE STUDY!  Make some eggs and toast or a sandwich and chips, but bring your brunch to Zoom! We will be doing a study called "Made to Make a Difference" by Max Lucado. This week we will be looking at Acts Chapter 2 and talking about young people and the power in which they have to truly make a difference in our world today.  No need to watch or read anything ahead of time!  Join us once, or join us for all four sessions, but don't miss out on Brunch!

We will also be hosting a HIGH SCHOOL ONLY discussion group that will talk more deeply about the content from the morning session.  That session will be held on Thursdays of Bible Study days at 8:00 PM.  Please contact David or Heather for the Zoom info.

Do you know a RISING 6th GRADER?
It's time for them to join Student Ministry!
6th Grade is an exciting time in the life of HMUMC! If you know a parent of a rising 6th grader, please share this registration  link! This link gives them the opportunity to join our Student Ministry program including a very special VBS Reimagined activity! 8. Musicians for Traditional Online Worship

Our Music and Worship Ministry is looking for additional musicians who would like to share a worship offering by singing or playing an instrument during an upcoming 11:00 traditional online service.

We are looking for musicians of all ages who love the Lord and want to show their praise through singing and/or playing their instrument in traditional worship. If you would like to be considered for one of our upcoming online traditional worship services, we'd love to hear from you!

Also remember that all participants who wish to be considered need to understand they may be asked to come and film their musical offering in the Worship Center. Each musician needs to be healthy and committed to following social distancing guidelines as we do for all our video sessions at HMUMC.

If you're interested, all you need to do is record a video of you singing or playing an instrument and send that file to the link below.  The musical style or genre of your selection doesn't matter as much as just providing a good sampling of your singing voice or instrumental ability.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please reach out to Pastor Mark Locke at  mark.locke@hmumc.org.

9. Prayer Requests

Prayer Requests

During these difficult times, don't forget that your church staff is here for you.  You can reach out for prayer requests through our church website at www.hmumc.org/prayer-request.

10. Church Reopening

In case you missed Pastor Jeremy's Pastoral Letter about our phased reopening approach, it can be viewed on our  AtHome web page

As promised, our Health Advisory Team has met and is reviewing all options for a phased re-opening approach and our staff is hard at work putting together more updates.

More decisions are being made and we are following the North Georgia Conference guidelines to not gather any sized groups before June 22, 2020.

We hope you know that your church staff is here for you and we are whole-heartedly committed to doing whatever we can to help our church stay connected during this challenging time.

Most of all, we want you to know: You are loved. You are missed. You are prayed for everyday. We will get through this together.
