June 10, 2020

This week I've got some good news and some not-so-good news.

Let's get the not-so-good news out of the way: Some internet scammers and hackers have been posing as Pastor David and sending emails with requests for money and gift cards. These emails are a scam. Please note that all staff email addresses end with "@fpcrichardson.org." Please do not respond to these phishing emails. No staff would ever send an email asking you to send us gift cards or money to us personally.

Now for some good news:
  • We will be having our Drive-Thru Food Drive tomorrow morning from 9:30-11:30 am. Place your donations in your trunk before you leave home. Once you arrive at FPCR, we'll remove the donations from your trunk. At the last food drive, we collected 1400 pounds for the Network of Community Ministries!
  • Pastor Jessie's study around the book "Anxious to Talk to About It" will begin next week. All are invited to participate. See more information below and fill out the poll to help figure out the best time to meet.
I am praying for you each day and I hope that you're encountering some joy amidst these uncertain and chaotic days. You certainly bring me a great deal of joy.

Peace,

Pastor Rosy

Anti-Racism Book Discussion

This study will begin next week on a day and time that work for most people.

Join us on a journey of self-reflection and confession as we discuss "Anxious to Talk About It: Helping White Christians Talk Faithfully about Racism" by Dr. Carolyn B. Helsel, Professor of Homiletics at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. We'll read a chapter or two every week and reflect together on Zoom. Vote for a weekly gathering time here.

Books can be purchased on Amazon, or  Interabang, a local Dallas bookstore.

FACES OF OUR FAITH

Summer Worship Series

This summer we we'll explore some of the bold and untold stories of our spiritual ancestors in scripture, hoping these characters remind us we all play a role in God's story of redemption and grace.

We will provide printed devotionals for this series. Click  here  to request a copy.

  RESOURCE OF THE WEEK

On Saturday morning, beloved friends from Sesame Street asked questions and had conversations with others in this town-hall format with the hopes of explaining racism to children. Children AND adults can learn a lot in this fun, informative video. Click here to watch the video in its entirety.

Inter-generational Sunday School kits for June were distributed to 18 families last week! Kits contain S'mores, paper crafts, pinwheels, tealights, table décor, blueberry Jello, and more, for these two lessons:
  • God speaks in a gentle whisper to Elijah
  • Jesus calms the wind and the sea
Activities can be shared throughout the week, and those who choose, may join for Sunday afternoon Zoom calls by age level.

(These are a one-time registration for all summer.)

Watch for more information about
July Sunday School kits.
