August 2021
Welcome Back to School!
Happy. Healthy. Whole.
On August 9, 2021, Journey Community Schools welcomed approximately 1,900 students for the 2021-2022 school year at Hanley School, Coleman School, and East Academy. We are honored to continue our mission to Engage families and community partners in our scholars’ learning journey, cultivate a safe, joyous learning environment, and empower teachers and leaders to deliver an inclusive, innovative, and rigorous education.

Last school year shined a light on the many inequities that our communities and schools face each day. Our scholars deserve the best regardless of their zip code. While we know that we must do more, we are pleased that our doors are open and families continue to enroll their children each day.Teachers and staff have shown resilience in their desire to create the absolute best learning conditions for each student. Our commitment to the Memphis community has only grown stronger, and we are more resilient than ever. We are Paving Pathways to Success!

Yours in Service,
Dr. Nickalous Manning, Executive Director
