Dear OBGYN Family,
I wanted to try and have a “little normalcy” in this chaotic time so we decided to send out the March newsletter. Before COVID-19 consumed our lives, many great things happened in our department. So please enjoy the newsletter, as we come together in this very difficult time.

The Nolan Speaker Series brings in a renowned physician to present a lecture on current research, treatment and timely topics in the field of Maternal Fetal Medicine. This year, Drs. Steven and Patricia Gabbe presented the George Nolan Lecture, giving a talk entitled:

OBGYN Residency Prep Course
|
|
|
Our eight-week OBGYN Residency Preparation Course took place in February and March 2020. We had 11 enthusiastic M4 students, and over 40 faculty, residents, CNMs, and nurses helped to teach this very highly-rated course. The course consisted of case-based learning, simulation, lectures, inter-professional experiences, and anatomy. This was the first year that all graduating medical students at Michigan were required to take one of the six specialty-specific courses, and
Drs. Anita Malone and
Helen Morgan were the directors of the OBGYN course.

Special After-Hours Clinic Serving our Michigan Medicine Learners
|
|
|
A group of OBGYN residents and faculty, led by
Drs. Erin Inman and
Sarah Bell,
organized a special after-hours clinic (5-8 pm) serving our Michigan Medicine house officers and medical students. They saw 22 patients for annual exams, IUDs and other contraception choices. All survey respondents (21) stated they would return to an evening clinic and everybody answered "yes" or N/A to "my birth control needs were met," and feedback was overwhelmingly positive!
A few words of gratitude from our patients:
- "This clinic was a lifesaver. Thank you!"
- "THANK YOU! It feels so good to have people looking out for your difficult schedule and wellness :)"
- "Incredibly convenient, especially since you didn't have to return for multiple visits. I have been trying to schedule this appointment for a long time. Thanks!"
- "This was so helpful and convenient. Thank you!"
