This is a quick weekly reminder of what is happening at Grace
in worship and in ways to connect and serve.
Pastor's Message
Signs of Grace

Our new sign is supposed to arrive this week. It is something that I have been dreaming about for over a year. A sign that can light up the corner here at Round Lake Blvd, and convey a message of love to our community and all who pass by. I must admit that I need a sign of grace today. When watching the news and seeing the devastating images of Afghanistan and the fear in the faces of the citizens who want more than anything to live in peace, I pray that God’s grace might reign. From wildfires in the boundary waters to the tropical storms, and hurricanes in Haiti, I pray that God’s grace might reign. From the Delta Variant continuing to be problematic and new decisions about COVID-19 happening again, I pray that God’s grace might reign.

Those are the things that make me pray for God’s grace, but there are signs of hope that I see. I was so blessed to spend yesterday on a waterslide on the front lawn of Grace. This was an unexpected addition to my calendar but in the urging of our kids to “Come down the slide with me, Pastor Joanna!” My heart filled with joy, and I experienced grace. I needed to play and connect with kids. Working with our new Vision Board and hearing their insights about our future and a willingness to reach out to others to welcome them into our church home, gives me hope and allowed me to experience grace. Finally, as we gathered with our kids and Vision Board around our old sign across generations with new people and long-time members, I recognized that God is recreating our community, giving us opportunity to be a new sign of hope to those around us so that all might experience grace.

What signs of grace have you seen lately? Please share them with me at joannam@graceandover.org

Blessings,
Pastor Joanna Mitchell
