Pastor's Message
Dear Grace Friends,

I wanted to share some exciting news about the staff at Grace. David Phelps will be our new Director of Worship and Music! I am thrilled to have David as a permanent member of our team. In the two months, that I have had the privilege of working with David, I have found him to be a wonderful listener, team player, someone with incredible talent and a willingness to learn. These are all vital strengths to our staff and to our music program at Grace. I hope you will join me in both welcoming and congratulating David.

David has been involved with music for his entire life from singing in the choir and playing piano as a youth and creating two ensembles from the ground up in college. . He majored in Music Education at Concordia College and spent 11 years as a High School Choral director, along with being the Traditional Music Director at a church in Rochester for three of those years. He also currently serves as the assistant conductor for the Northern Lights Chorale, a community chorus based out of the NW suburbs. David grew up in the area, graduating from Anoka High School in 2002.

I am very much looking forward to working with David and to let him loose to lead and guide our music ministry at Grace.
This past weekend, it felt so life-giving to be reunited with my family after such a long year. We celebrated the 4th of July at my sister-in-law’s cabin. We didn’t need to be socially distant or overly caution and could give each other hugs. It was life-giving.

I recognize that for many of us this past year, our holidays felt very different.  Perhaps we didn’t celebrate with others or in the way we wanted. To connect and be filled with that joyful spirit, we will be having a Christmas in July worship on July 24th and July 25th. Please join us for this special worship, where we can sing Christmas songs and be reminded of the gift of Emmanuel, God with us.

Blessings,
Pastor Joanna Mitchell

8 Weeks of Centering Prayer
Thursday Mornings
at 9am-10am
"Be Still and Know that I am God." Psalm 46:10

Many of us have hectic and hurried lives. Sometimes the cares of life can feel extremely heavy. One way of releasing the burdens and better recognizing our priorities is to be intentional about spending time with our Creator in silent prayer. Centering Prayer is a prayer practice where one chooses to quiet the mind and simply be in the presence of God. If you have been curious to learn more about Centering Prayer or might benefit from support in your practice, please consider joining us this summer. We are planning to meet in person in the worship center at 9:00am-10:00am on Thursday mornings from July 1st to August 19th. Please contact Anne Weikle at weikle3@msn.com with questions or to indicate you will be joining us. You can also call the church office. While it is not necessary to sign up, it would be helpful to know about how many people are coming. You can attend all 8 weeks or just once, what ever fits your schedule. This will be a time for beginners as well as people who have been practicing for a long time.

Grace's Opportunities for Giving
Grateful for YOU!

We are so grateful! Over the last two weeks, we explained to you the need that our partners in Rakai, Uganda are experiencing because of COVID-19 and the shut down again of schools and markets. In response, you have generously given to meet the needs of so many. We have been able to send $4,868.29 to African Children Today. All of this money will be used to provide food and essential goods to families in Rakai.
Thank you for sharing God’s love so that all might experience grace.
Noisy Offerings

The Noisy Offering for July will be on behalf of Rob, a young husband and father of 2 small children, who was critically injured by an impaired driver in downtown Minneapolis in late May. He suffered many broken bones and has a very long recovery ahead of him. Funds collected will help this young family with added expenses caused by this tragic accident.
