Do you remember the day you realized the importance of following Jesus no matter the cost? Melody Slaton (MA ’21) does. In 2017, Melody had a successful career as a corporate medical trainer when she heard God’s calling to ministry. After talking with her husband, praying, and discerning it became clear that God wanted their family to follow Him just like the disciples. So Melody and her husband packed up their life and moved to Costa Rica to be missionaries!
After serving impoverished people in Costa Rica for two years another call became clear to Melody and her husband. God was calling them to move back to the U.S. so that Melody could expand her Biblical and Theological knowledge. So they returned to the U.S. and she enrolled at Missio Seminary. Melody and her husband know that answering God’s call is costly, but the cost of following Jesus is nothing compared to the gift provided by their Lord and Savior.
Many students at Missio have made significant sacrifices to follow Jesus like Melody and her family. Their sole desire is to worship Christ and further His Kingdom! It is only through the financial contributions of generous donors that we are able to keep tuition costs low and reduce the financial burden of pursuing a first-class seminary education. In fact, donations cover about 30 percent of our operating costs every year! Without these gifts many students would not be able to come to Missio.
