ALADS' Statement on
Houston PD Shooting
Wednesday, January 30, 2019 - ALADS honors the bravery of and wishes rapid recovery for the five Houston police officers who were injured in the line of duty on Monday afternoon. According to latest reports, at least two of the officers are in critical but stable condition after four were hit by gunfire outside a believed narcotics operation.

We echo Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s sentiment that this is a “solemn reminder of the service and sacrifice our brave men and women in law enforcement make every day.” As we witness a rise in violence against sworn peace officers, it is becoming increasingly important for us to come together – law enforcement, elected officials, community leaders and residents – to support those who put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

ALADS extends its full support to these injured officers, their families, the Houston Police Department led by Chief Art Acevedo and the Houston Police Officers’ Union led by Joseph Gamaldi. We echo Officer Joseph Gamaldi's statements and his sentiments.

Although we may be geographically divided, we are united in our mission. Please join us in this show of support. To quote Officer Gamaldi, "Enough is Enough!"
